The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

I suppose you want him to grab a bucket and bail?
Actually the Ohio has more flow than the Mississippi does at Cairo, IL, which is south of the Missouri/Mississippi Confluence. Just an FYI.
I think National Hurricane Center director Max Mayfield called him with a dire warning. The difference is that, unlike the typical Democrat, Bush actually recognizes good advice from subordinates when he hears it...and then he acts on it.
I'm glad you think the levee holding the Mississippi will hold.
2-3 days at most before disease and total chaos sets in. It's going to be ugly to bear because we won't see what IS being done.
and I guess it will go on all day tommorrow too, and maybe the next day.
the bottom line is, by now, they ought to have figured out how they are going to evacuate these people from the superdome. they clearly aren't going home. charter 30 buses and start shuttling them out. the FEMA director says he can setup a "portable city" in a flash. OK dude, here's your chance.
I agree. Some people just need something to gripe about.
The President will go at the right time. And I believe he'll say the right thing and do the right thing.
I'm not a Bushbot. I'd like to sit down and chat with him about the borders, and a few other things.
But, in times of crisis, he knows how to be Presidential.

The breach was 200ft long and looked like about 100yds from where the canal meets Lake P."
I don't have a location on the canal itself. It isn't marked that way on my maps, and there are a LOT of canals in NO.
I heard him, but don't know a SA accent well enough.
How about Ma Blanco, though? "Well, these are the things I worried about all day. It's hard to fathom."
She should resign immediately. Immediately.
It appears some Freepers are catching the Cindy Sheehan syndrome.--"Talk to me!"
"Glad went took the kids to see if before all of this though. May be a while before we can go back."
You're right. Last time I was there was in May, 2004. Had a great time....great memories. Today this is so very sad.
I feel for those people left down in that hell hole.
I think the superdome has far more people in it now, its the place they are taking many of the rescued people to.

You'll have to see my WTC pics some day.
Who do you blame for the failure of the dikes? Who do you blame for the failure to repair the dikes?
Your right - I'll just stand around and chew cud.
Just where do the looters think they are going to haul the loot to? Sounds like they'd rather die rich & stupid. In a boat, car? Do they think the cops are gonna help them tote their stuff?
The nation is lost without your genius..
She says she can't dump him, for tax purposes she has to kill him. But she decided not to so the entire family is relieved right now.
It was funny today. my niece rescued her and left a message for me that she wasn't talking. I assumed she was mute in shock and horror so I called my three other sisters to tell them that she was mute and in shock. After many phone calls, much clucking and sympathy and drama, she called me to say she could speak and not to spread rumors. So don't tell anyone I said a thing about the llama and the rest of it.
Yes. I heard that too.
Why can't they "boat" them out?
They probably would have done just that - if asked. Which, no doubt, they weren't.
This is unbelieveable as the water continues to rise.
I think the media did a disgraceful job covering this story. They were obsessed about the category, liked lots of pictures with their hair blowing around; did not understand the aftermath. They are useless.
