I'm positive you are right . . . I've just been worried about her.
Funny how we can worry about our FR friends, isn't it? We've never even seen each othernever heard each other's voices. But I am always glad to see you posting, am happy for you when you have good news (city water in '06! Woohoo!!!), and will pray as if for my own family when bad weather or whatever comes your way . . . Y'all are just special to me . . .
To: Farm Fresh Onions
now you are just being ridiculous.
Quit.

Aye....same thing here with Isabelle. I had a tree on my house. I was lucky compared to others. I was on high ground.

Admittedly I haven't seen that many images of this one.
I see that I was told it was Homestead Florida that was erased by Hurricane Android.
Any preliminary info on how Katy stacks up against Android so far?
(I was out for most of the day. Neat pic of the submarine ambulance.)

yes very much so.
couple of things happened that really saved New Orleans.
One, the Hurricane slowed down. This gave the land masses near the Hurricane more time to affect it, and weaken it.
Two, it wobbled East. Had this thing been 10-15 miles closer to New Orleans at landfall, the entire city might be flooded, not just the East side of the city
Three, it is moving faster than it was. Had this storm stayed at a slow motion for more than it did, the torrential rains, along with the winds would have caused even more flooding.

Freepers beware of any too good of a deal on a car. Check for water lines in the doors and trunk. Cars will be totaled because of flood damage but someone can then try to sell them for a good price, often shipped to other parts of the Country.

I sense a bad idea in the making.
Would be interesting to see an all terrain amphibious ambulance.

It was twice as big, so the damage is a lot worse. And Andrew was a very fast moving storm; this one stayed FOREVER.
And listening to Haley Barbour on TV, I think some really, really bad news is coming out of Mississippi.

My brother was stationed at Homestead for a couple of years ... I think he'd been posted to Germany by the time it was levelled. Interesting stories about the alligators, though!
