It was twice as big, so the damage is a lot worse. And Andrew was a very fast moving storm; this one stayed FOREVER.
And listening to Haley Barbour on TV, I think some really, really bad news is coming out of Mississippi.

Okers.
I've been out for awhile today, so I'm playing catch up on this.

Although, I liked Gov. Barbour's comment today, that looters would be treated "ruthlessly". That kind of tough talk is surely missed lacking by modern political officials. Anyone who takes advantage of this situation should have their heads cracked with nightsticks wielded by old fashioned, 1930's era, 250 lb Irish NYC cops.

My stepson and his young family live outside of Jackson, MS. They lost power yesterday at around noon (well-ahead of Katrina). They're still without power, and were told it could be a couple of weeks before it's back. He and his wife were #600 (or so) in line for a generator--needless to say, they didn't get one. He said he's never seen anything like this storm. (I believe it was still at cat. 1 when it hit near him).
Also, my husband got back tonight from Birmingham, AL. He spent last night there in a Hampton Inn with no electricity. They did give him two glow sticks, though. He said his flight there (he left Houston Monday at around 5pm) was like a rollercoaster.
