Stupid B_tch Mary Landrieu on WWL-TV blaming the fed govt for "not investing enough in LA for 4 decades". Of course don't blame the city and state for not even supplying independent generators for all but 1 of the pumps. Never mind that the president had to force the idiot gov. and mayor to declare a mandatory evac.
Good news is the eye is now open. The bad is that the flight-level wind is a bit stronger (could be a fluke of where the plane was; the previous Vortex had the strongest wind in the SE quadrant, this one has it in the E quadrant).
It appears she's wobbling just a bit west of true north. Not good news for NO (puts the eyewall closer).

Of COURSE the roof is a different design. It has to span an incredible distance... it doesn't have to hold up tens of thousands of fans and millions of pounds of steel/concrete. The roof only has to hold up itself and keep out the elements.
Sort of like peeling an onion, I guess.
sw
That is because the eye passed east of the city.....they were spared somewhat.....NE of NO is just getting pounded......the winds in NO will soon switch to the NW (if they haven't already); that WILL keep the water at bay...
WHAT!? That's absolutely shameful.
Like I posted elsewhere...
I'd be more worried about catastrophic structural roof failure... if small pieces get blown off here and there... that's rain and wind insize... if the whole thing structurally fails...... You wind up with large debris reigning down on the interior.... and with all those people in there.. the death toll would be massive.
But it's funny eh ........:o)
All honesty, it sensationalism IMO.....I need info for my loved ones down there. BTW a friend has a tracker antenna on his suburban that has TV , Internet etc via a drivesoft system and he's still sending me e-mail from NOLA and watching FNC etc and listening to XM from his vehicle parked in the center courtyard of his home there.....expensive but IMHO it's an advertisement for what works in such extremes. He says the antenna is flat vs like the direct TV or Dish antennas most have. Mounted on the luggage rack of his burb mobile supposedly.
XM radio's channel 247 aka 24'n 7 Emergency channel has done very well in their format to cover this. They even linked the channel to FNC's channel late last night at times vs having to switch around.
Good technology to consider if ya live in such extreme weather regions......
Nothing like flying bricks when the southern eye wall hits....
Of course she'll ignore the fact that those four decades included LBJ, Carter and Bubba in the WH.
Morning folks, NN you need to get some sleep.
Yeah, wearing skirts.
Mary has forgotten the past 100 years of corrupt government in this state, the payoffs, the graft, the utter failure of public servants to serve anyone other than themselves and their families. Including her family.
Mary Lanrdieu needs to shut up! Unbelieveable...
I was just transcrbibith the cell phone report from two reporters from / for WDSU calling from inside the SuperDome. They were pretty calm, said the officials there were keeping them informed. They were a lot more sensible than the talking heads on camera!
transcribing, that is ...
