Yikes....isn't the room made of concrete?
Brian Williams.."2 holes in seam in roof, rain pouring down on seats"
Are you kidding? Without the roof, the whole interior of the structure is directly exposed to the hurricane.
FOX now reporting the sky can be seen from inside the Superdome.
Oh my! not the shipyards! That had to be a memorable experience!!
The sound of the wind is too spooky to describe, I don't see how anyone could ever sleep through one of these.
TY for the link!!
... (note, not 1/12th missing but 1/12th affected 3x5 hole with pieces coming off) ...
From the 8 am advisory...
KATRINA IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 15 MPH...AND A GRADUAL TURN TO THE NORTH-NORTHEAST AT A SLIGHTLY FASTER FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS. ON THIS TRACK...THE CENTER WILL BE PASSING JUST TO THE EAST OF NEW ORLEANS DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS WITH THE WORST OF THE WEATHER FOR THAT CITY OCCURRING OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. THE CENTER IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI LATER TODAY.
"Is your dad's house close to the beach? Or your sister? "
My dad lives about 3 blocks off the beach...not big blocks either. My sister is thankfully north of I-10.
We survived Camille in my dad's house but the house is 45 years old.
He is filming it and will send it back ASAP..
He is saying he doesn't think anyone is in great danger, some of the roof panels have "lifted off"...

Keep yer head down, FRiend.
Are they not aware that all that soon-to-be-twisted steel tends to go . . . generally . . down ?
Here in Fla. when there was a lull, people would run out and cover the leaks in their roofs with tarps and put bricks on to hold them.
Where are you hearing this?
Bob: If I may shift gears for a moment gentleman, coach Ditka vs. The Hurricane, who would win?
Todd, Pat, Carl: Ditka, Ditka!!
Bob: Hold on, Hold on, Hold on. The name of the Hurricane is Hurricane Ditka.
(Todd begins to pound chest)
..Is everything ok?
Todd: No problem, just having a heart attack. (Pounds Chest)
..Almost over! Done. Done.
Bob: Very good. Very nice recovery, now how many heart attacks is that for you Todd?
Todd: That makes a bakers dozen for me.
Carl: Yeah, Ive only had six.
Bob: Well thats something to shoot for Carl."
Here's the whole thing;

SO basically now the Superdome looks like Texas Stadium.
If I read the report correctly on the dome posted last night, it said each piece of the dome is structurally dependent on the parts. The roof being one of the key parts. If I understood the report last night.
... folks appear very calm in the SD, moving ot eh other side of the dome ... they understand they need to ride it out here no where else to go ... MREs handed out ... most people are in awe watching ...it is surreal ... people standing up and gawking at the ceiling ...
Listen to Landreau!!! Barf!
