A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

"Does it spoil the tune for ya to remember that? :o) Nah; not at all - I laugh!
Not this unflappable Marine, having taken in stride being right out front of eight full companies carrying the American Flag for the Dedication of The Iwo Jima Monument at Parris Island.
Didn't matter that The Commandant of the Marine Corps and all kinds of D.C. types were there, Base Commander, etc.
When I was Right Guide in Basic Training of a Platoon of 73 women, Parris Island was really hopping, training men to go straight to Korea to fight.
When we women had to drill to go Mainside (Chapel, Boot Shop, etc.), hundreds of men everywhere were always cheering/catcalling/whatever, trying to make us break concentration and *disgrace* ourselves and The Corps.
That went double for me, the target out front, and I was rock solidly impervious.
So honed in to the DI's cadence calling and its ever so slight changes, to me, nothing else in the world mattered!
Besides, I'd had "Morning Sickness" morning, noon and night for 7 months of that pregnancy - no big deal..:))
(Remember my description last night on the thread of what I did during WWII to develop bravery? ENDURE, and OVERCOME?!!)

PrissyMissy sings everytime we get in the car. She sings anything and everything. A few years ago, when Sally Jesse Raphael(?) - the red-framed glasses lady - had her morning 'talk' show, I tuned in to watch one morning that had been promoted as future *stars* - little children with incredible talent. There was one little girl about Marissa's age who sang "I Will Always Love You" - it gave me chills. I taped it - she was amazing! She had Whitney Houston's version down to a *T*! The other kids were *okay*, but just okay - this little girl was awesome!

I'm glad I could help. Thank goodness for the "Partial source" thingie - older versions of IE (before 5.5, I think) didn't have that feature, and you had to view the source for the WHOLE page you were on, and then wade through to find what you wanted. :(

Hey! - the LadyX could go down to Wal-Mart in this one and apply to be a greeter.
Hmmmm, what might that message be, X-ie? You just might be sending the wrong one. :)
Kidding, of course - my only concern about that dress would be if you forgot your double-sided tape and raised your arm like that. LOL

I was on my way to meet my hubby for lunch and just thought I would take check in at FReeper's Finest before I leave. Thank you for my reminder. I'll now switch to my "red" look. I was actually quite green today. I forgot it was WEAR RED FRIDAY. Oh, good afternoon - I'm so glad you did check in, so you could change to something red. I would like to say that I've noticed a LOT of red on Fridays when I go out, but unfortunately, that is not the case. :( We know, though. :)

Thought you might like to see a picture of Cheney's House in D.C. - The National Observatory - in about 1895 after being built in 1893...[note unpaved roads of the time]

that partial source feature sounds good. not available in Foxfire or AOL, which I am using primarily now for threads/
But it is fun to scan the entire source page sometimes, unless in a big hurry, and if one is in a big hurry, having to be at a source page is the pits anyway.
Not leaving until 5 as I again am putting off chiropractor.
In the great scheme of things this is minor but just a curioustiy.
In pings/my comments the NEWEST are at the top.. in the threads the newest are at the BOTTOM. anyone know why??? Like I said a minor question.

I don't know how much musical talent Prissy has but she loves music and she picks up on the rhythm pretty quick.
She was yodeling the other day. I have no idea where she picked that up.
I think I need to start exposing her to classical music.
