But Why Can't Hillary Win? (delusional Leftist alert)
Slate ^ | 7/30/05 | Weisberg

Don't like Hillary? Join the club!

Political insiders mostly agree: Despite being an early front-runner for the 2008 Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton faces long odds of ever being elected president. But if she can't win, why can't she?

One facile argument, often voiced by Hillary-loathers on the right, is that she's too far to the left. The "real" Hillary is closer to Howard Dean than Bill Clinton, a recent piece in the National Review asserted. Wrong! An unhedged supporter of the war in Iraq, Sen. Clinton stands at the hawkish, interventionist extreme of her party on foreign policy. Despite her pandering vote against CAFTA, she's a confirmed free-trader and deficit hawk. On the cultural issues that often undermine Democrats, she seeks common ground, sometimes with flat-earth conservatives like Rick Santorum, and has been nattering about the "tragedy" of abortion. Even Hillary's notorious government takeover of health care was misconstrued as an ultra-lib stance. In opting for a mixed, private-public managed-competition plan, the then-first lady was repudiating the single-payer model long favored by paleo-liberals. Her plan was flawed in many ways, but it wasn't what Ted Kennedy wanted...

The msm can't wait to gush all over Hillareah. I wonder if Dr. Seuss had the lame-stream media in mind:

They had to hold their running noses

They had to hold their their sitting poses

They proclaimed it smelled like roses

And now ignore what truth discloses

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the sensible people of New York took the air outof her baloon, by voting her out of office in 06? I can dream can't I?

[ Hillary Clinton ran a million votes behind Al Gore in NYC and Buffalo. She was elected by upstate conservative women. There are women where you live, are there not? ]

Exactly.. And Oprah and the Harpo'crites havn't even started in YET.. And McClaim or some other Rino is not running against her either spliting the base.. 2008 looks bleak and forboding.. but 2006 doesn't.. If a decent republican candidate is selected that would be another story but then most republicans dont even know Dubya is a Rino, YET..(denial?)

And if a decent candidate runs like Pence.. He would be largly unknown.. not an insurmountable problem, but an iffy one.. The Camelot issue of Bill Clinton BACK INTO the White House is ALWAYS NEVER mentioned.. (Jaws theme).. Must simply be too scary for most "HERE" to formulate words.. (or is that Comealot..) no matter, the issue IS not ignored by most all future Hillary voters.. but they are not saying anything either.. the democrat "payback" for Al Gore and John Kerry LOOMS.. Did I say Bill Clinton WOULD BE the first, first gentleman, Oh! yeah I did.. The mother of all drama shows awaits.. (JAWS THEME) Oh I did that TOO.. Call it a screening.. The "Attack of the Clintonoids" will be a BLOCKBUSTER..

I'll be surprised if the Dem party does not split like the AFL-CIO just did. I think Howard Dean is perfectly capable of teaming up with Move-On and defying the Clinton center. I doubt it is in the bag for Hilary. I think that is a media fantasy.

Yup.

And one thing we probably WON'T have against her is a Gennifer Flowers or Juanita Broadrick. These Clintoons are very shrewd.

What would that mean for Free Republic if Hildabeast were elected? We would see a very focused effort to shut this place down, pronto. The dirt would fly almost immediately. Bill Clintoon's first announcement as Pres had something to do with Gays in the military, something which never came up in the campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if Hildebeast's first announcement had something to do with "accountability" or "fairness" or "dangerous activism" on the internet that needs to be regulated.

Heard you on the radio with Levin yesterday...great job. I would prefer Estada over Gonzalez as well.

As for Hillary, the loony left may get mad but I have no doubt they will vote for her.

Absolutely. They will criticize her for (pretending) to move to the center, but that will get her the nomination. Of course, they will vote for her against any Republican no matter how much they have criticized her.

I agree with you on all but this

She not only has a chance to be president; the only realistic challenger to stop her at this moment is Giuliani

Rudy is too liberal. You need a good solid conservative to show up Hillary

The "real" Hillary is closer to Howard Dean than Bill Clinton

The real Hillary is really closer to hell and her father Satan.

Regarding your post...Have the Republicans (the party supposedly in power) done anything to ensure our military votes are counted?
Gore tried to suppress their votes and was almost successful. Hillary and her supporters will not make the same mistake. The Armed Forces can always count on a Republican President and the GOP should do more to ensure their votes are counted.

I agree with what you say with one exception. I think the only thing that can keep Hillary! from getting elected is Hillary. I think it is unlikely that she will make it through the primary season and a general election without a major meltdown or at least a major fissure in her facade. But I agree that for that to really matter, it has to be reported for what it is, and it probably won't be.

For her, the ends do justify the means. THAT is truly scary. <<
Always remember the difference between a conservative and a liberal.....
A conservative base his politics on his morals..
A liberal bases his morals on his politics...(hence the end ALWAYS justifies the means to them....Total disconnect)

the voters have no such vision problems

I wouldn't bet on it.

In fact, neither will people who bet on it with actual money.

Tradesports is a trade exchange futures clearing house which has had an almost perfect record in "predicting" such outcomes. In 2004 for example, it called the Election results correctly in 49 of 50 states, including the Senate.

For 2008, the odds have Hillary leading the rest of the Democrat pack by 5-1. She is practically unstoppable for the nomination. It also has the Democrats (read, Hillary!) winning the Presidential Election with favorable odds 50.3 vs 48.1 for the GOP. Granted, it's still early. But these are very uneasy indications of the investor mood out there. The smart money is betting on a Hillary win.

Be afraid. Be very afraid!

Two things are different, well maybe 3. First there is no perot to be found,

There is indeed a Perot to be found. He is currently the senior senator from Arizona.

The thought that all the dem prez wannabe's would allow Hillary and just take what they worked all their lives for seems a bit surprising. I think the dem primary will be nasty.

Biden, Bayh, Kerry, Richardson, and Warner know that if Hillary wins the presidency they will have to wait until 2016, aqnd maybe 2020 to run. Are they going to roll over for this witchy newcomer? They either come out and fight the PIAP or they give up their dreams forever.

I know "it ain't rocket science", but, it's not just the number of states or the surface area of the country, it's the population centers, popular vote and electoral vote.

It's also the number of Hispanics, AA's, women and possible ex-cons that may swing the next election. It depends on how much the victim mentality increases.

DON'T for one minute doubt the BEAST doesn't have a chance! Don't be fooled by ANY mediaWHORES telling you she ain't got a chance. I fear she does, and a good one! Why? Because right now our base has a very short list on candidates that would give her a run for her money! I'm keeping my fingers cross Condi will run against her! The closer we get to the presidential campaign, the more devilish and eager the presstitutes will be cooking up poll numbers to give her a boost! TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED FOLKS...NOTHING!! The RATS are evil and Hiltery's accomplices are even more!!
