TICK TOCK...............
A better question is why do WE let them make US look like fools.
Given that, what possible reason is there to continue to vote Republican?
Thank you. Interesting thought about what you said regarding Clement's maritime law experience - the UN trying to implement new restrictions regarding international waters. (I'm sorry but I cannot remember the acronym for it!)
Between a judge conversant in adjudicating such law and Bolton in the UN cleaning house, this could be a tag team that effectively looks out for American interests.
I think he should nominate Estrada -- just to stick it to those b*st*rd 'Rats!!
So 'm I!
LOL!
There's nobody he can nominate that won't send them over the thread.
Sit back and enjoy the fun!
I've been sitting here trying to figure out why Clemont saying that Roe is settled law is causing so much panic among the pro lifers on this thread. Roe is settled law. True. This woman didn't say she agreed with it, did she? She or any other nominee can't be sworn in one day and change Roe the next.
I'm a staunch pro lifer and Catholic to boot. Somebody needs to explain to me why I should be tearing my hair out, gnashing my teeth and praying the rosary over this "maybe" nominee by Bush.
Impossible to say. Who knows what great inventors, scientists, politicians, educators, religious leaders we've killed in the last 35 years. Society could be entirely transformed for all we know.
That's how it worked with Plessy v. Ferguson, which was not actually overturned by Brown v. Board of Eduction. P v. F died a death of 1,000 cuts.
Let the games begin!
If we lose everything what will be the point of everything else? Patience is a virtue. We are moving ahead, stop dragging us down.
What, I should call myself real pro-life, stand by idly, and be content with the death and murder of another 50 million just so that I can placate someone without the backbone to stand up for a real abomination.
Maybe if the real pro-lifers really felt the life and death urgency of this matter nothing else would matter.
It never bothers me to legitimately be told I'm not doing enough. But then again, the Pharisees were left with a bad taste in their mouths too when confronted by someone telling them that their deeds were evil. Maybe, just maybe, we need to quit pacifing ourselves and telling ourselves just how much were doing and how wonderful we are that we don't get anyone upset with us. Because in the meantime...babies are really dying.
Thanks Billybob..I trust your opinion re this selection..
David Souter. Do I win something if I get the answer right?
What makes you think she'd vote to uphold Roe?
Bump that Congressman BB. Some people here are in full blown hysterics.
And others are just here to stir the pot.
Like many here I was looking for the sellout. But looking closer at Clement I don't see it. Her comment on Roe was just exactly what she should have said... the only thing she really could have said.
Bush could have picked an obviously more conservative nominee but I don't think there's any evidence that Clement is "another Souter." A couple of tidbits: I've heard Fox report that she presided over the fraud trial of former Louisiana governor Edwards. I also saw someone on another thread quote a source that said she had booked a flight to DC this morning.
What's up with the prime time announcement?
