Lived in RTP many years after attending nursing school at UNC-CH. Grew up in Charlotte.
I am from NC and saw what Hugo did to us.
I'll be there on the next flight. Have loads of room here for the winter months. Done deal. You really were serious, yes? :-D
Still, it shouldn't be a problem.
Never, ever, will I forget that conversation...
I like those model runs, but I'll eat my hat if it crosses Mexico and emerges south of Baja.
But of course! Just keep in mind that I have 6 kids and a dog that will be coming with me. ;-)
The good thing about the Yucatan is that it is sparsely populated. There are the resort communities which are fairly new and have pretty good construction. And then there is Merida to the north. Not much in between.
Ha! Spent hurricane Charley with three adults, six cats, four dogs, and a pot belly pig.
Stranger things have probably happened. I agree with you, however.
Ha animals are easy to get along with lol Kids are a tad harder.
Never will I forget the cracking of the pines--6 trees down in our yard, our entire west and south sides of the house covered in shredded leaves, you c/n see out the windows,no electric for four days and we were among the lucky ones. There were people in CLT w/o electric for >2+ weeks.
Hint: swimming pool, boat
The storms that drive inland are the most fearsome.

Ok now I'm getting jealous! :)
I was thinking the same thing. Now that would be a wrench in the prediction gears.

On History Channel now is documentary about 1991 Hurricane Grace. The forecasters now at NHC are being interviewed throughout if you want to put a face to the names.
I did see the conversation about the possibility of two cat 5 storms at once... don't know the history though. I am too much of an amateur to make much sense there quite often... I just have the job of creating idle banter. ;-)
I just watched the 2 hour show on Isaac's Storm (1900 Galveston hurricane)... pretty amazing stuff.
