OMG--remember Hugo vividly. Was in Chapel Hill at the time, called my parents at 5-6AM because local Raleigh news said the eye of Hurricane Hugo was over Charlotte. My Dad replied--"Like hell the eye of the storm is over us. The eye of the storm is calm, and it's blowing like hell here..."

Never, ever, will I forget that conversation...

Never will I forget the cracking of the pines--6 trees down in our yard, our entire west and south sides of the house covered in shredded leaves, you c/n see out the windows,no electric for four days and we were among the lucky ones. There were people in CLT w/o electric for >2+ weeks.
