SEOUL President Roh Moo Hyun declared Thursday that under no circumstances would South Korea allow the United States to resort to a military attack against North Korea.

President George W. Bush insists that he wants to resolve the nuclear crisis through diplomacy, but he has not officially ruled out a military option, which he has called a "last choice."

We need to sabotage the bases we evacuate in South Korea as we wipe North Korea from the map (and maybe have a couple of bunker-busters get lost in the vicinity of the presidential compund in Seoul).

"I would recommend we start to redeploy out of South Korea. If this president or his party are reelected, we should be gone permanently.

South Korea can make its best deal with the North and with China, and they'll have to live with it. We've generally stood by countries that wanted to be free. But if, in their minds, we're the problem, then they are ready to leave the nest. Its time for us to back away and let them."

I agree. After we pull out of Korea announce to the world that Japan will be handling defense responsibilities in the region...then watch the Koreans react..heh heh.

Pull all our troops out of that ungrateful POS country right now. We have plenty of partners in Asia who would love to have our protection and American dollars. Screw the S. Koreans!!

TODAY, begin redeployment of ALL US troops along the Korean DMZ to the US borders! 35,000 soldiers is just about right to seal 'um up tight!

More insanity, but somehow I don't see the South Koreans turning their guns on our military. This is probably great bulletin board fodder at the Pentagon.

We won't leave S. Korea - not for their sake, but for ours.

We will act in our best interests regardless of what this moron says. We need to keep the troops there.

As China becomes more wealthy and influential, I would expect to see other nations in its vicinity moving into China's sphere of influence.

You are right about Guam -- didn't we just deploy some planes to Guam for protecting SK -- think it is time we pulled all ground troops out of SK and let the Air Force/Navy handle the protection from the air and none on the ground.

See how fast this moron changes his tune.

Out...redeploy closer to Taiwan and allow SKorea to act big on its own defense like they talk...Certainly they can defeat the poverty stricken Nks.

It's OUR national security. The South Koreans don't have a horse in this race.

Reminds me of the ploy we used when some militant Filipinos wanted us out of the Subic Bay naval base: "Do you REALLY want to see the Imperial Japanese Navy steaming down Surigao Strait again?" At that time, memories of Jap occupation were fresh and they clammed up. A few years later, they forgot - and we left.

Unless I'm mistaken, South Korea is still next door to China. We need to be there.

We can't strategically walk away from South Korea. To leave would be a horrible overreaction to the idiocy of a politician.

Redeploying closer to Taiwan might start a war with China, by the way.

Re #1

He is a babbling moron whose power is crumbling these days. In the coming days, don't be surprise if he say something even more outlandish.

For a last couple of weeks, he is losing it. Due to domestic problems, which include bad economy never getting better, his ilks are really in trouble now.

He has been shooting off his big mouth just about everyday, going in all direction, confusing everybody, both his supporters and his opponents. I am not exaggerating.

One prominent opposition lawmaker even publicly called for uprising against him. He is not known for bombastic drivel, but a serious man, championing N. Korean human right steadfastly.

Some tell me again why we even bother defending these cretins?

#1 - Because we are economically dependent on them.

#2 - The U.S. has many good friends and supporters in South Korea - even if their current president is not one of them.
