There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.
Bump your post, Cindy. Thank you.
Are you not now ascribing rational political motives to these murderers?
It is NOT........I repeat it is NOT because you are allies in Iraq that you were attacked.
It is not "realistic" to say that Iraq was the reason, because there is no reason besides their evil desire to destroy life.
But I'm sure that the terrorists are just fine with anyone in your country who claims that fighting terror is the reason that innocent people were killed today.
Fortunately, your PM is a man of courage who won't fall for the leftist tripe that Iraq is the cause of this tragedy, and back off his resolve to fight terror wherever it exists because people erroneously lay the blame for this on Iraq.
Yes I do. Your point?
Do you have a link for that? I didn't see it at Drudge. Been cubicle-bound all day, my apologies.
The Islamists are obviously trying to work up another attack on the US, but so far they haven't found the way to do it. In the meantime, they're attempting to destabilize our allies and scare away any support we might have. In addition, they have their own grudges against those countries (Britain and Spain, at present).
This week was some anniversary of the declaration dividing the territory of Palestine between the Israelis and the Arabs, for example, something we wouldn't think about, but they do. And Spain has been in their sights ever since they got driven out 500 years ago. Islam has been on the attack since its foundation. When the Christian West is strong, it gets driven back. When the Christian West is weak, it sees its opportunity and presses ahead.
Ah, a student of history. Thank you.
Excellent analysis.
"...When the Christian West is weak, it sees its opportunity and presses ahead..."
With secularists on the march in this country they are playing right into the hands of these Islamists. One of their most "useful idiot" organizations, ACLU (Anti-Christian Lawyers Union) is helping move their agenda forward at an increasing rate.
You are ascribing reason to these murderers, furball. They kill because they hate freedom and western culture, not because it makes sense.
I dont think its far fetched...several other released prisoners have been killed waging battle....
Along a busy street in Madison, Wis., Robert Santurri proudly shows his support for victims of Thursday's deadly bombings in London.
Who are "they?"
Bali was because the perps thought the Aussies were Americans.
OK. I'll bite. Islamofascists. Terrorists. "They."
Close.
"Islam", "Muslims" would have been better. "Arabs" would have been unacceptable.

London: What a Grim Thing to Have Happened
Amid all the optimism surrounding Blair, Bono & Geldolf doing Live 8 and G 8, and the award of that most wonderful and pacific of international institutions and global brotherhood -- the Olympics -- what a grim thing to have happened.
Violence rarely gets us anywhere; the PLO, the IRA, the SLA, among others have achieved so little with their terrorism. If the London bombings are the work of an Al Qaeda offshoot, then you have to fairly say, in the same way we condemn other's terror, this is in part the result of Bush's War on Iraq.
Islamic terrorists is your answer.
Good for you!!! I hope he really reads it, and thinks about it. We want a hard nosed POTUS that can/will stand up to the dems, because if they can't stand up to the DEMS,.
They darn sure can't stand up to the terrorists!!!
BTW, on Hairball with Chrissy, Chrissy just asked Asa Hutchinson, why they haven't caught the ones who did this this morning in London...He said, "Here it is after DARK, and they still haven't been caught, why is that?"
Hutchison said, that they think one was a Homicide bomber, but that this was planned well in advance using remotes...
Chris is just like all dems, and considers this a "law enforcement" problem, and why haven't the "police" got the guy?
Prayers for the victims and their families. Tonight, we stand together with the British people.
