There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.
uh-huh, so much for polls then
I don't think it's been confirmed definitely.
I think there is just too many polls that have very subjective questioning and then the MSM flaunts the results. I trust very few polls because if they were so correct then Gore or Kerry would be President.
We visited Coventry Cathedral several years ago, it was preserved as it had been bombed by the Germans in WWII with a brand new cathedral juxtaposed next to it. Do you know if it's still that way? It was quite moving to see.
btt
FNC reporting that two Americans were hurt in the blasts and two more unconfirmed may have been hurt, none are considered serious.
Also 2 bombs have been found that were not detonated and that is a confirmed report.

It's not as bloody as I thought it would be, but I think we need to see the bloody ones sometimes.
I didn't think they were in danger due to their location, but one always has the nagging thought "were they on the tube"?
You and the posters of the London maps are one of the reasons I love Free Republic and freepers. Thank you.

The 3 mentioned are "sleeper critics" awaiting for the "memo".
I don't know I'm afraid, I've never been to Coventry.
I agree, just being over-cautious.

;)
The fundamental thing here is this. We knew this would happen when we, almost alone, joined you in Iraq. Many, according to the polls a majority, don't agree. Some of us do. Either way, we aren't going to be pushed around by bombs. It's been tried. It just makes us quietly stubborn.
I love that! "Sleeper Critics", LOL On a brighter note Nancy Pelosi managed a very nice statement! Even Reid, Dood and Leahy managed to show a smige of class.
Please don't denigrate one of the most interesting groups of birds in N. America :)
We are going to have to suffer a cataclysm.
I am so sorry for that but we have far too many citizens with no guts and no grasp of the harsh realities of the world.
They have been brainwashed by the need to see sameness in all cultures.
