There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.
How about revoking the tax exempt status of any mosque found harboring terrorists.
Even back date the revokation.
(can the tax exempt status of a whole cult be revoked?)
No! They have rightS you know! Are we now going to invade another innocent country like we did with Iraq?
JUST KIDDING! I WANTED TO SEE HOW IT FELT TO BE LIBERAL!
Prayers for everyone in London, especially those killed or injured and their families.
Pretty typical of the DU. They point the finger but can never provide answers on how to solve this all....
Lets keep everyone in England in our minds I have contacted my family there and everyone is okay. I will keep everyone else in mind and if any other FReeper has family or friends in England I will have them in my thoughts.
God Bless.
"The Contrast Couldn't Be Clearer"
By President George W. Bush
EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the text, as released by the White House, of President George W. Bush's reaction to the July 7th attacks on London. He made his remarks from the G-8 conference in Scotland.
I spent some time recently with the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and had an opportunity to express our heartfelt condolences to the people of London, people who lost lives. I appreciate Prime Minister Blair's steadfast determination and his strength. He's on his way now to London here from the G8 to speak directly to the people of London. He'll carry a message of solidarity with him.
This morning I have been in contact with our Homeland Security folks. I instructed them to be in touch with local and state officials about the facts of what took place here and in London, and to be extra vigilant, as our folks start heading to work.
The contrast between what we've seen on the TV screens here, what's taken place in London and what's taking place here is incredibly vivid to me. On the one hand, we have people here who are working to alleviate poverty, to help rid the world of the pandemic of AIDS, working on ways to have a clean environment.
And on the other hand, you've got people killing innocent people. And the contrast couldn't be clearer between the intentions and the hearts of those of us who care deeply about human rights and human liberty, and those who kill those who have got such evil in their heart that they will take the lives of innocent folks.
The war on terror goes on. I was most impressed by the resolve of all the leaders in the room. Their resolve is as strong as my resolve. And that is we will not yield to these people, will not yield to the terrorists. We will find them, we will bring them to justice, and at the same time, we will spread an ideology of hope and compassion that will overwhelm their ideology of hate.
Thank you very much.

It seems like there were 3 Tube bombings, plus one bus, from the most reliable items I've heard.
I recall she's a Lebanese Christian.
I just heard old Marvin Kalb on FOX, spouting exactly the same nonsense that you posted from the Daily Kos. Does Kos write the Democrat talking points? I couldn't believe it, just kept repeating the same hateful responses over and over.
Good on you and your son. Prayers and thanks from a grateful American.
Amanpour origins = War Slut.
Yep. They're made of much sterner stuff. Londoners endured the blitz and Hitler's V-2 rockets many years ago. It's undoubtedly been posted here (I live on the left coast, and am 3 hours behind our right coast pals) that UK PM Tony Blair has returned to London from Scotland's G8 Meeting.
"We're all Londoners Today."
That is exactly my sentiment.
We are all Londoners Today...I'd just add the only small message to terrorists and sympathizers of terrorists...that we will seek you out, track you down and kill you.
Fox has reported that is the worst attack in England since WWII.........
It is getting harder and harder to not be so cynical that I want give up on politics...!

I know what you are feeling! To be fighting against people who want to destroy our civilization, and to have half of our politicians and media outlets deny this fact, is extremely demoralizing. It really gets hard not to say "I quit. I will go into a cocoon."
Muslims in London are far more likely to be injured by the terrorist actions of other Muslims than they are by general reprisals from Londoners.
I just finished a ride on the Toronto subway. Seemed plenty of people on it and in the stations. Didn't notice anything out of the ordinary but I must admit my thoughts were on how I would respond to an attack while riding along.
Hahahahahaha! That was very clever! Touché! :) :) :)
We're all Londoners Today.
That expresses my sentiments exactly.
We are all Brits today...and to the terrorist cowards just note that we will seek you out, track you down and kill you.
"We're all Londoners Today".
ABSOLUTELY!
