There has been an explosion at Aldgate East underground station in London, causing the closure of the entire Tube network.
There are also reports that a second incident took place at Edgware Road station in north west London.
The Aldgate East blast was caused by "some kind of power surge", according to Tube infrastructure company Metronet, which is responsible for maintaining the Metropolitan line.
A spokesman said: "We don't know the extent of the problem yet."
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We have just sent some resources out to the scene."
British Transport Police confirmed that there are "walking wounded" and said paramedics have responded to one report of a person classed as "life at risk".
"It's chaos, with people trying to work out what has happened," said a spokesman.
"All we know at the moment is that staff reported a loud bang at 8.49am. No one is sure what caused an explosion, but it is thought it could have been a collision, a power cut, or a power cable problem."
One witness said the packed underground train he was on was 200 metres from Kings Cross when there was a huge flash.
The train stopped and people were using umberellas to smash windows of the trains. Passengers were led out of the train by underground staff.
He added people were milling around Kings Cross covered in soot.
Except for the frogs...maybe rebuilding, they can make money off of that.
We had a Freeper in Houston post similar sentiments following the attack on 9/11. He was describing how he was a sharp shooter in Vietnam and that he tried to re-up, but was told he was too old. His home was blown up while he was still online.
I think your post is too much. I seriously doubt London/Blair were unaware something like this could happen. How do you stop a suicide bomber from getting on a public bus?
What about severe methods of interrogation?
We're doing the work. No surprises today other than it took these uncivilized killers of children so long to strike. It easily could be much worse.
Most of the Churchill speeches you heard were NOT Churchill.
Back then, it was illegal to record sound in Commons, so Churchill had to deliver speech at Commons, then go to BBC to repeat it for transcription disks. Took lots of time.
So they hired an actor who could do a great Churchill impersonation and he did the BBC recordings. And those are the recordings we have today.
Al-Katie is just trying to protect Al Qaeda. She is one of their biggest supporters.
They're beyond insane.
Do you think the BBC and Reuters will start calling these Jerks "TERRORISTS" now?
I will suspend judgement until I see the tape; as I had said, I only heard it. And I DO admire Blair also...I was just making an observation that the shakiness in his voice struck me as odd coming from the "stiff upper lip" people.
I need a cup of coffee.
"Unconfirmed report on FNC that the bus explosion was a homicide bomber."
I hope so. It makes me feel a little better to think that they continue to deplete their ranks.
Put a sock in it.
This blame our leaders first crap has GOT to stop.
There is very little that can be done to prevent an attack like this. Unless you want to live in a police state.
Our leaders get blamed for not preventing the attack. Then they try to prevent another attack via things like the Patriot Act and get attacked.
Sometimes things happen, despite our best efforts, and I think you will be better served standing by your fine countryman and law enforcement leaders.
WHAT? That's one head I would like to see on a platter...
Bah is right.
Let's see. Based on all available evidence, Scotland Yard had less that five minutes warning -- and even that warning hasn't been confirmed. Who do you think Blair is, Superman? Quit trolling.
The enemy is blunt in what they desire to accomplish... Benjamin Netanyahu put it best. "Our enemy does not lack the will to destroy us, but they lack the means. We have the means to destroy our enemy, but we lack the will. It is race to find who gets what first."
Agreed: Kill all those who have any dealing with terrorists.
Jail all those who give any lip service support to them, or against our men and women fighting against them.
Yes.
