You got that right.
I know we get a bit goofy at times on these threads - but the detailed explanations our fellow FReepers provide to turn some of the stuff into plain English, without the hype of the TV makes a lot of difference to a lot of people.

Hot dang! It's getting super windy down there and you had better get some plywood, dude.

Check out www.nola.com to see what damage was caused from TS Cindy. There is no way they can handle Dennis if he is going to be a major hurricane.
To: NautiNurse
He really was good. A calm voice in very uncertain times
To: blam
This isn't even funny. I've been outside all day cleaning up from Cindy and you all are in here 'cooking-up' another suprise. Dang.Uh Oh...blam...Do Not look at post #31 in your current condition. I repeat--do not look at that post.

"Post Cindy- which didn't really follow the forecasts and was a respectable little windstorm after all- the temp here in Metairie was 78degrees at NOON! In JULY! Unheard of! " Something strange about Cindy. I think the winds were higher that stated.

FR is a great source for many things. I'm going to get in trouble for ignoring the Threat Matrix if the weather keeps up too long though. =P

I just checked the NOAA hurricane map and it now looks like its going to go up Mobile Bay. Look out those of you who live on Dauphin Island!
To: humblegunner
Realistically, it would probably be me and the dog and the Jeep coming your way. It's pretty flat between me and Braes Bayou.
I'll bring beer.

Inside the detention center, the military prepared audio tapes in at least eight languages warning that a storm was coming.....Dick Durbin's gonna be screaming for evacuation.

Excerpt from meteorologist
Larry Cosgrove:
Bottom line: someone in the Gulf States is about to take a beating from Dennis. But DO NOT DISCOUNT the more rightward options; some statements I have read on these and other WWW pages (from professionals as well as enthusiasts) have lampooned as idiotic the idea that the storm might go a) north of Jamaica, B ) affect Florida, c) mirror certain longer range models. Last year the European model constantly implied a New Orleans hit or westward turn which never materialized, and this year the global schemes have had a leftward bias. I suspect a definitive call may be made on this storm on Friday, and I do not think the result of that prediction will be what the energy companies, or their consumers want to hear.

This fight isn't over yet and that concession speech may never be brought downstairs. That's an official flip-flop!

"I just checked the NOAA hurricane map and it now looks like its going to go up Mobile Bay. Look out those of you who live on Dauphin Island!" Thanks, I'm a little north.
My younger brother is in the pier and bulkhead business. That's the only positive thing I can think of.

yeah...
of course there is always the possibility that this thing could just stop when it hits the GOM too...
a stronger high to the north, one to the east and one to the west...
I know that isn't shown in any of the forecasts yet, but one of them did that 4 or 5 years ago out in the Atlantic...

I'm just reporting the voting totals. I can't control the precincts. Right now it looks like gobbledygook might actually be trailing after an early lead.
Don't be a SoreLoserman if the elections totals ultimately don't favor you.
To: LA Woman3
Bricks shattered!?! Not good at all for at best, a minimal hurricane. Yikes.

I've got to find out if they have the roof on my house yet. I don't think they've gotten that far. Good grief.
It's been a real mess here in Ms., all day. Very windy but nothing like it will be IF.
