Hurricane Dennis heading toward the Gulf of Mexico
I love the "Do not use for planning purposes" disclaimers on these models.............
Could not stand to listen to him last year during Charley. He was so full of himself.
Aha! But are you abnormal enough to explain it in such simple terms that even us simpeltons can understand?
Run if you wish.
Some of us will stand our ground.
I vote for decoded PLUS pictures.
If a man isn't smart, it does him good to hang out with those that are.
Not entirely...
Strong hurricanes typically have strong anticyclones sitting on top of them, which causes the air on the outer periphery to be rather stable. This can give them some 'breathing room,' when it comes to other steering currents. Also, some currents affect storms at different strengths... last night I posted a link since moved here that shows this idea quite well. It's all kind of tricky, and I don't pretend to fully understand it. ;-) The further north it gets, the more likely it is to be affected by easterlies though, so that will need to be watched. If that high pressure builds as it is supposed to, it will certainly block it from moving too far west in the gulf.
That goes for women, too :)
Why in the world did they wait until the second month of hurricane season to do that? Oh bother, why ask why of a government entity...
A hurricane watch was in effect Wednesday at the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where some 520 terror suspects are detained. Inside the detention center, the military prepared audio tapes in at least eight languages warning that a storm was coming.....
Stay safe !
I'm not sure if this was posted, but here is a site that decodes the raw VORTEX messages.

And if ya need to, bayou boy, you can stand the ground on my second story.
I think you're normal, and I sense a late comeback from my team. This fight isn't over yet and that concession speech may never be brought downstairs.
We may not be real smart, but we are smart enough to hang out with those that are!
I understood about half of it or a little more. I figured incorrectly that NA stood for not available instead of nautical accuracy did I read?
Aw man. This isn't even funny. I've been outside all day cleaning up from Cindy and you all are in here 'cooking-up' another suprise. Dang.
Good time to get out the Arabic-English dictionary and see if Zarqawi or UBL has something to say about us putting their men in harms way. ;)
Absolutely--a nurse must be able to talk to everyone on all levels.
e.g. Low numbers followed by mb are bad. High numbers followed by kt or mph are bad. Stadium effect is pretty for the Hurricane Hunters, bad for people on the ground.
Thanks.
But I still intend to rely a lot on my adopted smart folks here. Y'all are a great resource.
