Hearing on Fox News
"I don't have a dog in this fight, but I kept up with the posts, and it should have been obvious that the 1973 reference was to R v. W."
This was the exact exchange"
"but in social matters, I rely on society rather than a court to change things."
Who, then, changed things in 1973????????????"
I would say that is is apparent to me that the reference is to RvW but not obvious. Not everybody here is 40 years or older and it would have been much better communication to simply mention RvW. I don't think it was right to call Cajungirl ignorant for not getting the reference. That's all.
well she doesn't have an obvious one, which is a detriment to her chances.
GOP Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Mike Dewine of Ohio need to be reminded that WE are watching!
They promised to reverse their position on the constitutional option if the Dems attempt to start filibustering Bush's court nominees again...and SUPPORT Bill Frist on the constitutional option and STOP the filibustering of Bush's nominees.
NOW is the time to hold their feet to the fire...since when Bush nominates a conservative replacement for
O'Connor..it's going to hit the fan!
I just called their Senate offices.. (202)-224-3121 Capitol switchboard.
In the article I read earlier this week about Senators kicking around the suggestion of Bush appointing a Senator to the SCOTUS, Graham, of all people, was among those being considered.
We are very fortunate O'Connor is the first one being replaced. Much tougher for the Dems to filibuster the very first SC nominee without looking unreasonable. I think we get her replacement through almost regardless. Same to some extent with Rehnquist. Difficult for them to complain about his replacement when Rehnquist himself was so conservative. And when I saw "difficult", I mean it'll be tougher for them to keep those 14 centrists in line.
Sessions is the guy we use when its really up in the air on a critical appointment. Say if someone like Stevens or Ginsburg leaves, and we need to get that critical vote over Dem insistance that we appoint a liberal. A guy like Sessions is the only type who might be able to get through without a filibuster.
children, children, children...
McLame won't make it out of the Primary
Bingo but it is better to say strict constitutionalist to the people in the Country -- that goes over better but I certainly agree with you that a strict constitutionalist will be a conservative not a liberal.
Just tellin' it like it is.
Depends on which primary.
This would mean a makeup for 4 liberals, 1 moderate and 4 conservatives, correct?
Personally, I think the best makeup would be 1 hardcore liberal, 2 other liberals, 1 libertarian, 3 conservatives and 2 hardcore conservatives.
Cool! Freepmail me. We might know each other!
I'm flattered that you asked what is going on over at DU. It appears the time has come for me to say "What is DU"? I hear my sons laughing already! But now I'll find out :)
"children, children, children..."
sorry (sheepishly)
"ignorant" is not a name, it is a state. "stupid" is a name. "ignorant" means that, in his opinion, the poster lacks the information to make an informed comment.
This can be ascertained by reading posts for their content, and judging the opinions based on known facts.
The response to being called "ignorant" is to provide the evidence you use for your opinion. Then the person who called you "ignorant" will see that you are not willfully ignorant, and may provide the additional information you need to make a more informed decision.
"Anything less would be unacceptable. They only get one chance, they can't afford a mistake.....like Souter."
And Kennedy
Granholm's on my #@^& list even more than usual today. Yesterday, she appointed a rich flaming lib to be our district judge to replace a conservative(who passed away).
"My choice is Mark Levin"
That is the post of the day!!!
He will win a couple .. but in the end .. like I said .. he will not make it out of the Primaries
There are too many strikes against him .. CFR, The Judges and this Immigration Bill he and Kennedy are trying to pull off
Then there is the fact they he cannot be trust .. nobody knows what he'll do next
