The Island is 6 to 7 miles deep by about 20 miles long

B-1 = California Lighthouse - where the boys claim they took her first after leaving the Bar.

D-3 = #4 is the location of the 2 Marriott Hotels - where the 2 brothers (and now Joran) claim they dropped Joran and Natalee off after leaving the lighthouse -  the 2 brothers claim they went home to Hooiberg after that.

D-3 = #19 is the location of the Holiday Inn where Natalee was staying.

G-5 = Where the red #2 marker is pointing to is the area that the Carlos & Charlie Bar is located

D-4 = Township of Montana is where Joran lives

F-7/8 = Hooiberg (Haystack Mountain) - The 2 Kalpoe brothers live in this area at the foot of the Haystack Mountian.

C-9 = By the Natural Bridge on the map is the location where the sharks hang out as they are fed at this location. This is the Shark Infested Feeding Area.

E-3 = Wetland in the Bird Sanctuary is the location where they found the Condoms/Condom Wrappers - Duct Tape (looked like black electrical tape to me) - Female Flowered Panties - and a String or Strap from a Bikini or Halter Top.

Could they have been looking for a boat, and emailed him, but never did use him? Perhaps Croes protested that he had not taken his boat out that night for them, and the cops did not believe him, so they held him.

Perhaps the VDS's DID use his boat, and Croes never knew why. Or perhaps they stole/borrowed someone else's boat in the end.

Obviously Croes was found to not have enough evidence to hold him that he was actually involved in even the coverup of the murder. Lending your boat in the dead of night is not a criminal act. Actually, if he had piloted the boat and never saw the body, I don't know if he could legally be an accessory, either. How large was the boat, and how reasonable would it be that he did not see a huge tarp being brought onboard or hear a large splash, after which the passengers suddenly wanted to return to shore?

Article in De Telegraaf (Sunday) In a recent full-page article in De Telegraaf (biggest newspaper in The Netherlands), they dedicated attention to the Natelee Holloway’s disappearance and the suspected involvement of the Dutch judge-in-training Paul van der Sloot and his son Joran. The article covered mostly all the events since the disappearance of Natalee but there were also a few statements that were not (broadly/publicly) reported before.

What happened to Natalee?

According to the article, the detectives believe strongly that Natalee was taken to the light house located at the Northern part of Aruba by the 3 young suspects. Once they were there it is believed that these suspects tried to engage in sexual activity with the Natalee, but she most likely refused and tried to fight them off. She was consequently murdered (during the struggle) and her body was then dumped somewhere on the island or in the sea.

Paul van der Sloot (PvdS)

According to the article , PvdS has been living 17 years in Aruba and the last tree years he has been a substitute judge-in-training at the justice department. The department was not impressed with PvdS’ performance trough the years and had already decided internally that he would not be able to continue to function as a judge-in-training. PvdS wasn’t allowed to the conduct court (hearings) anymore and the department has been seeking other internal assignments for him until they found a fitting position for him in the department. De Telegraaf reports that the authorities have done some investigating and this has lead them to believe that PvdS gave instructions to the 3 boys and told them what version of the story they have to give to the authorities and what they shouldn’t tell. This has also been reported by the respected Dutch news program, NOVA, on Satruday. You can view NOVA's report here (in Dutch)

Joran van der Sloot (JvdS)

Hasibokos.com published an interview conducted with a friend of JvdS last week. After we had contact with Dan Riehl, he told us that he believes he had interviewed the same friend before. Joran’s friend had mostly positive things to say about JvdS, but considereing the fact it’s only one source, we are in doubt now about the Joran’s temperament. This is because according to the article in De Telegraaf, Joran has been seing a psychiatrist for some time now because he is short-tempered. This does not match the previous statement of Joran’s friend who said that she never saw JvdS loose his composure on the tennis court. About Jorans reaction when he would loose a tennis match, she said that Joran would be very disappointed as anyone would be, but he would never burst out and start screaming or show violent behaviour. According to Joran’s friend at those times Joran would just pull himself back a spend time by himself and reflect. Maybe Joran would never loose his temper in public and that why his friend never noted his short temperament. Or maybe he was just doing what his psychiatrist advised him to do in those situations.

i am not always a true crime junky like some, but i have been enthralled with this case from day one. i find it extremely interesting on many levels, and heartbreaking for the family of course. i also read whatever i can find and rely on the wonderful people on this thread to keep up for me when i can't!

Cajungirl, I agree with your synopsis as to what possibly did occur with Natalee. The GHB was put in her drink either by Joran or one of the bartenders.

Natalee's behavior of a level headed, responsible and intelligent girl went downhill very fast prior to leaving C&C. I think that explains her loss of prudent inhibitions, therefore leaving with Joran(POS).

I myself think her so-called friend(s) could have done more to stop this incident. I would not want friends like these in my life. They seem to have that "Kalifornia Dreamin" mentality. A real friend would have stopped Natalee and intervened. I know it would have caused a scene and Joran would have had a melt down. I would be willingly say, Natalee would still be alive today.

Joran has probably done this sort of thing before(GHB)sex M.O. without the dire consequences. Perps like him play on a girl either, not remembering and thinking it was casual sex, self denial, or they are too embarrassed to report the incident.(It was my fault syndrome).

Have you ever considered a career in southern law enforcement? I think you would do well, and there are some other Freepers on this thread who truly impress me with the analytical minds. NSNR

well this puts Dad VDS beyond the bounds of the parent-child privilege. if he affirmatively instructed them on what to say and what not to say, that is why he is being held, and not just to psych out Joran to spill his guts.

Joran had to be pretty determined and persistant in his persuit of Natalee if all of the reports of him getting acquainted with her early on during her trip,

following her around, showing up in the locations where she was present,

having confrontations with her step-cousins,
