I recently found out that a very close friend of my family was raped last winter. She is a 21 year old college student who was in Europe on a foreign exchange program. One night a guy she somewhat knew raped her.
She returned home to the US soon after this. Out of shame, she did not tell her family what had happened (she was a virgin at the time of the rape). After a couple of months she realized that she was pregnant. She is a devout Catholic and abortion was never a consideration; she considered putting the baby up for adoption, but decided to keep the baby. The baby is due in a couple of months. She only has 6 credits left to complete her degree, so she will commute to school every day while her mother cares for her baby.
Please pray that this brave young woman can find a sense of joy from her child that will overcome the darkest episode of her life.
Thank You
I was thinking the same thing as you when I read it.
-girl goes far away from family and their watchful eyes.
-girl from very religious family.
-virgin gets pregnant from one act of sex.
-doesn't report it.
red flags all over the place.
Amen.
Thank you, Lord, for the life of this tender one. Bless both mother and baby, as well as her family.
God bless this brave young woman and the child she is carrying.
My father was adopted, my best friends father, my last girlfriend and her brother as well. God only knows the circumstances behind all four situations.
My prayers go out to this young girl. I just wish the animal who did this was punished.
Please give your friend a hug for me and a message.
She will love the child, even more, as she has decided to keep it.
My friend died this past year, she had a child from being raped, as it turned out it was the only child she could ever
have.
No child was ever loved more than her son, their joy in each other was wonderful to see. The son is almost 40 years old.
I will be praying for this young lady and wishing her the
best the world can offer to her in the future.
Lots of prayers would be welcome.
My heartfelt prayers to God offered up right now for this young woman.
Dear God please comfort, console, strengthen and guide this young woman and her family in this time of great need.
In Jesus' name,
AMEN.
FYI a "bad" judgement call hardly entitles one to be raped...and it is the very attitude that you, and thankfully only a handful of others on this thread, have displayed that helps make it difficult for some women to come forward.
So a girl puts herself in a difficult spot, possibly too much to drink, possibly started down a path that she wants to back track from, regardless rape should not be an acceptable consequence...
Seems to me you need as many prayers as she does...prayers for the ability to be compassionate and a lot less jaded....
Glad I'm not your wife/daughter....I'd be afraid to tell you anything...
Telling me about it when it happened is one thing, making an excuse for it three months later when it is obvious is another.A man brings his dirty laundry to an open public forum for viewing, asking for prayers ,and no one is supposed to ask how the stains got there?
Prayers UP.
I am new to faith in God, but can testify that God will heal hurts freely given up to him.
perhaps this is what the young lady needs.
May God keep her in his graces, may she turn to him in her need rather than away in bitterness, may the rapist come to repentance one way or the other.
dude.
you ever been raped?
you ever known that one of your friends has been raped?
never been raped, myself, but I have known a few women who have let me in on what happened to them. their testimony leads me to suspect that a very large percentage of rape-victims are so ashamed that they tell very few people, if anyone.
to be fair, I am also aware of a few cases of "no-after-the-fact" false rape allegations. In their way these are just as destructive as rape itself. I have seen more than one man destroyed by such allegations.
and, to be completely equitable, it has always struck me as a trifle odd that woman+beer=not responsible, whereas man+beer=legally accountable in so-called "date-rape" cases.
but those are side issues.
If this woman was raped and made pregnant, pray for her.
If this woman made an unwise decision, got pregnant, and is covering for it with a tale of rape: PRAY FOR HER.
In either case, she needs it.
please, re-examine the content and tone of the post to which this is a reply.
I have known this young lady her entire life, I have no reason to disbelieve her. Have you researched the extent of unreported date rape? It is not uncommon for women to keep this a secret. Your insinuation that she is not a virgin is despicable at best; and even if she was not a virgin, this has nothing to do with whether or not she was raped.
If one airs his laundry on a public forum he should expect someone to ask how the stains got there.
NOBODY asked me to post this thread, I did it on my own accord. It is not my "laundry," it is me asking for prayers for a family friend. But I am interested, do you make a habit of asking people in other unpleasant circumstances "how the stains got there?" Do you tell lung cancer victims that they deserve to die because they smoked? And why is it that I should be questioned as to this young woman's morals? From reading everything you have written on this thread, I can only conclude that you have some deeply ingrained misogyny and you need to look at that.
Prayers and hugs for your friend and her precious baby.
Is that what this was, a date rape, did he drug her or get her drunk or did he physicaly restrain her. You say she knows him and can identify him. Does she wish to prosecute him and finaly did she confide in you to tell you this story or did you get it from her family members. Rape is a serious allegation either in legal allegations or passing conversation.I know if I was a woman and a man held me down and forced sex upon me and I knew the individual there would be no corner on earth or hell he could hide. By the way I have known all my adult children their entire life and I can still smell when something isn't quite right.I could be wrong about this, I really hope I am, I have just seen too much of it in this world. Oh and please define your interpretation of what a date rape is.
You are correct, wagglebee did not ask me to investigate but he did ask this board for prayer. I am a member of this board as well as you are.If I was to come to this forum with a family or personal situation I would expect to be greeted with like questions. You call me a jack ass, well, maybe so, OTOH I have no time with people accusing someone with the horrible crime of rape yet will not identify or prosecute them.I am tired of men being the bad guy all the time when it isn't always so. If she was raped and he wants to publicise it on a world forum , so be it, lets get the guy and hang him, if she does not then there just might be more to the story.
If I posted an article asking for prayer without names saying that a friend of the families child was raped by his wife, how far do you think that thread would go without question? Now do you see where I am going? Unsubstantiated allegations against anyone is wrong.Wagglebee posted a thread about a horrific crime and in my mind rape is a real close second to murder, not to be taken lightly.
Special prayer bump!!!!
