I've been thinking that too .. that it was probably a panic situation more than a planned event.
Well, if she didn't do that then why did she go out and have sex with three men? Was she drinking? Was the rohypnol put in her COKE? Who saw her get in the car? Where were her girlfriends? Why didn't anybody get worried at the time? Was she having a falling out with the people on the trip? There are so many questions.
All that pretty blue water. Damn.
God rest her soul. God help her folks.
I do not think that a girl of that caliber would go off with 3 men like that. In fact, I don't know that ANY woman would do that. Unless a date-rape drug was slipped into her drink. Or she was lured away somehow. IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!
Have you been to a college lately? Many of those hooking up for sex with people they barely know are "straight A, honor student". Many of those who end up drinking nearly to death are honor students. Many kids, newly adults and on their own for the first time, decide to let loose or rebel for the first time in their lives. The accounts here indicate that she left the bar with three men she did not know, whether they were involved or not. Book smarts don't always equal street smarts or good judgment. Unfortunatly, one mistake can be fatal where in other circumstances it could merely be embarassing.

I'm with you. I know quite a few honor students that attend church, etc. etc. Those same kids are out gambling with their lives on the weekends. What I finally figured out was that the parents KNEW, but pretended they didn't.

I forgot about the new morality, and the new behavior that goes with it - "hooking up", "booty call". Yes, I'm basing my speculation on the old morality. But, still, would a girl have sex with three men? I can see one, but three?

I've heard so many numbers of chaperones. But to have only 7 adults in charge of over 100 students is just plain stupid.
And no answers. Why did the three young men drive off after they saw her talking with the two security guards? Seems like her entire support system broke down that night.
Unless these 2 men confess, or they have more evidence than they are letting on, the case is still wide open for me.
As I have posted, she did an incredibly stupid thing by going off with strangers to begin with. I suppose that makes me a misogynist, too.

you do stupid things, we've all done stupid things, most of us have been lucky we didn't get hurt or get into major trouble and didn't hurt anyone else in our stupidity
look at the Ecstasy all these kids are taking and you are more likely to give something "a try" on a vacation then perhaps at home
Aruba is hot, really hot, take some E, throw in alcohol and dancing, don't drink enough water - you have a recipe for a death
and yes, ye old slipping a drug in her drink, again if you aren't accustomed to bars etc you might know that you need to be vert careful, again you tend to let your guard down on vacation
when we were in Aruba, we had the deep sea fishing trip from hell, we had this stoned captain [most of us found out later, my sister ascertained this, she was likely smoking joints up with the captain] whilst the rest of us were puking, the waters were choppy that day and he purposely hit the waves to see how many of us he could make sick (some of us were already a little hung you know what I mean)
now my sister and I had done a fair bit of sailing and I am the one that usually has the life jacket on first but on vacation we hadn't even thought about life jackets
now this loser captain came way too close to an huge oil tanker in these choppy waters, my sister who was upstairs and I both had the same thought at the same time, this guy is too close to that tanker, we could get sucked in and crash into the hull, where the hell are the life jackets
of course joke was on this jerk, after four hours of hell, we stopped payment on the cheque, loser took a cheque for the trip, LOL.....so we got the last laugh
but both my sister and I looked at each other and couldn't believe we had been that slack.......
These aren't grade schoolers. They are all young adults from what I've read. If I sent my 18 year-old out into the world unequipped to handle this type of situation, I'd be kicking myself all over the place. It sounds tough, but the girl made a very bad choice. It cost her.
