Announce Filibuster Compromise
Scary!
It wasn't the Democrats who surrendered and there was NO dignity.
What's with this Lindsay Graham? I once thought he was a conservative. He's a gutless wonder the likes of Jeffords or MCcain.
I'm leaving work in < 5 minutes and Hugh is on another commercial break so if he sums up before his show is over (I think he may wait until the TV speeches tonight) I may miss it.
He posts stuff on his blog pretty quickly so you could probably get nhis take on it in an hour or so.
http://www.hughhewitt.com there is something posted there right now, although I haven't read it yet.
WE Know, We Know... D@$t@$t McPAIN.
If that's all that can be done.
The most important thing is that we got Brown, Pryor, and Owen. They're all probable Supreme Court picks.
In truth, what this deal means is that it's virtually certian that Janice Rogers Brown will be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court before January 20, 2009.
Probably not the next pick, but probably the one after. With a year or so on the Appeals court.
Dems get their way (they always knew Brown, Owen and Pryor weren't "extreme" and have been playing that game for months to scare RINO's), GOP loses.
Dems get PR and talking points (the future use of "extraordinary circumstances") and the gloat factor within the MSM.
GOP gets squat.
Actually they are going to now spin it as a Victory for them. UGH!
Ever since January, it's been disappointment after disappointment. How much lower can the Republican party sink?
I called it right here on this thread.
This is a shot at the two-termers.
The inside DC crowd is protecting their collective jobs.
"The Republicans are no longer the majority in the Senate. Six Republicans senators switched parties tonight; whether anybody cares to admit it, or not. These six will never vote with the Republicans again."
They's jus' poked their heads out of the holes they wuz hidin' in so's allus could spy'em with our.....with our......sense of who they is, and who they ain't.
Hugh is basically as confused as we are.
Wrong, the devil is in the details, the RINOs have agreed to not pull the pin on the nuke option for the remainder of this congress.

Even if the Dems fail to live up to their part of the agreement?
Since they have already said that Owens, Pryor & Brown are too extreme, too conservative ....in the future who can they oppose under 'extraordinary circumstances'?
I am getting sick of seeing the little smirks on the DemoRATS faces
How do we know the 3 will be confirmed? Why would anyone trust the compromisers? I won't be shocked at all if they all vote against confirmation.
"And Bush is starting to look like a lame duck. "
Starting to? LOL....
You don't see Bush running down Pennsylvania Ave screaming and cursing. Noone would make a deal like this blind-sighting the President and not expect a wrath from the White House, especially with members of his own party.
