So, the Dems retreat to regroup; we get three of our most conservative nominees; and we all live to fight another day. That's the bottom line.

That the Dems would vote for cloture to avoid a showdown vote on the nuclear option has been obvious to me for a long time and I have voiced that opinion in many threads.

I think McCain has helped the Dems save face and that is about all. I don't know much about the two sacrificial lambs but I hear they might not have made it anyway. In any case the Pubbies won and the Dems lost. If it wasn't for McCain et al then it would have been a complete and humiliating defeat for Reid and the Dems. He saved them from that. Freepers will never forgive him. In my case, anyone on that stage is ON MY BLACKLIST FOREVER. We won by 3 points when we were a 4 touchdown favorite and way ahead in the 4th quarter.

The behavior of the "Suckup Six" is inexcuseable and unacceptable.

You are totally clueless. If what you are saying is true, we would see Bush running down Pennsylvania Ave cursing and screaming. No executive will be blind sighted like this. I don't care who you are, you don't make deals regarding the President's nominees without consulting or the White House.

If I were Frist I would resign the leadership now.

The reason: he seems to be suggesting that this "deal" was brokered without his knowledge or input by elements within his own party...if thats the case, elements within his own cacus sold him out and he should stand down...

That's assuming his statement is factual....

This whole ordeal has been about John McCains run for the White House in 08. He just screwed your President and every single voter in the United States by not having their representative that they elected to vote up or down on every judicial nominee. Half of you still haven't a clue as to what has just happened. You lost! You lost your vote by default. Congratulations in your victory! You just got screwed as your prize!
"THANK YOU SIR! MAY I HAVE ANOTHER! *THWAAACK*!" John McCain just set the GOP back about 8 years.

Well .. McCain better wake up and realize that his adoring press coverage will stop the day Hillary enters the race - they will dump him like a hot potato.

"'Extraordianary circumstances' is NOT, in your words, a vague threat. Democrats will now throw around 'EC' at every Bush nominee no matter what. The nominee could wear brown shows with a blue suit and that will be enough for the traitors in the DNC to say 'extraordinary circumstances'.

Yes, and I would expect the Dem's to find an extraordinary cicumstance sooner rather than later. And when the "moderate" Dem's renege on the agreement it will put the RINO's on the defense. McCain and his fellow wannabe GOP mavericks will be forced to express their "dissapointment" that the Dem centrists broke their word. The offended RINO's then have almost no choice but to go with the constitutional option as they will look like fools trusting the Democrats again.

In the meantime we get 3 of the best judges confirmed, and perhaps a few more till the Dem's can't stand it anymore and find an extraordinary circumstance.

This is not an outright win. I'd have preferred to see the constitutional option, but it's a better deal for our side than it is for theirs.

You think the Dims well let us put a black woman on the Supreme Court?

I hope so. They tried to block Condi and it didn't work. She's doing good so far.

Yeah right. And I've got a nice brochure of bridges for you to buy.

If you buy into the lie that these judges are "extreme" then you aren't too bright. And if you believe any promise a Democrat makes, you are a fool.

Sorry but I just don't see it that way...but I DO despise these RINOs like McCain for this, but I have despised them for a long time, so nothing has changed.

I hope the Jerk (McVain) thinks this back stabbing was worth it. He'll go absolutely nowhere politically anymore, except of course getting his ass kissed by the NY Times and such.

Reminds me of the lines between Michael Douglas's President Shepherd and Annette Bening's Sydney Whatever (Allen Wade), after the "President" cut a deal...

POS: "Sydney, please...I don't want to lose you over this."

Ms. POS: "Mr. President, you've got much bigger problems than just losing me...YOU JUST LOST MY VOTE."

Judicial bottlenecking paid off. Big Time.
When they tried to collect from me on this issue again back in Jan/Feb, I told them no. I said, you have the votes. Use them and stop begging for more cash cuz you aren't going to get it.

Lindsey Graham: No matter how much pressue he gets from S.C. or conservative groups he won't listen to them.

Translation, I don't care what my constituents say, I won't do it. What a f'n crybaby.

Why do these people think that Centrism is somehow a position that should merit respect. It isn't a philosophy at all and has no principle at all. I have the willingness, in principle, to compromise....but not the willingness to compromise on principle!!!
