A Manchester man who went to retrieve his two daughters from a party at a University of New Hampshire fraternity was arrested early yesterday morning after he pulled a handgun and told revelers to "back off."

Hey, if this party had been in Texas, it would have ALSO been off-campus, just like in N'ampshire!
What? At most fraternity parties the door is unlocked so anyone can enter or leave. There is no indication they were being held against their will- no one, the father or police claimed this. Letting them enter the frat house and then refusing to give them a ride is not kidnapping. That is ridiculous.
She escaped getting attacked later, but she had a bad experience with the drug.
You really can't be too careful these days.
Suppose they were told they were going to a Beanie Baby swap meet and instead were taken to a broken-down dive full of drunken frat boys and then were told to fend for themselves? More information is needed to make a judgement.
Old duffers everywhere have been looking for that for decades, and then it happened. Shook the fraternity system to it's boots.
I am grateful I don't have daughters. (They wouldn't be allowed to have a life till after I was dead!)
Makes me believe somebody thought they had an undercover narc, and there was something more serious than beer going down.
Can you make sure we get a follow-up on this once the investigations are done and the perps are in the lockup. This could be good!
New Hampshire, New England, New York, New Albany ~ hey, that one's in Indiana even!
We recently assisted a young lady who wanted to go to Bloomington, Indiana. She'd asked the driver as he started to head up I74 "Does this bus go to Bloomington", and he said "Yes, it does". He didn't add that it went to Bloomington, IL and Bloomington, MN. Thank goodness she didn't ask to be returned to Springfield!
ah. where are the "the girls' parents obviously raised her poorly or she wouldn't have been there" posts??
I lived in a house with seven fraternity brothers...it wasn't the frat house, but we had just as many parties, probably more.
Anyone who showed up and pulled a gun would have faced off against a Mossberg 500 (12g), 1911, Beretta 92F (desert storm commemerative), Dan Wesson 15 (.357) a Glock 22 (40s&w) and a bunch of 9mm smiths (1 police academy issue and 2 LEO issues)
This doesn't depend on the age of consent. You could do that to your aged grandmother ~ just take her out and leave her at a gas station or a restaurant in a distant city and drive off.
People do this all the time and when they get caught they pay a stiff penalty.
In this state he could have started firing and killed every single one of them and walked away free.
Doesn't he know that the children of New Englands royalty are above the laws that he and his daughters must comply with. After all one of those Frat Boys might be related to the Kerrys' or even the Kennedys'.
Perhaps, under certain circumstances, this may be true- I'm not a lawyer. But this case looks like a friend or acquaintance gave the girls a ride to the party but didn't want to leave when they did. This happens all the time. Everyone has certain friends they'll never go to a party with- either because they always want to leave early or they stay until the host kicks them out. Again, my argument- the father should have calmed down and planned a strategy when he went to get his daughters. I mean, he had 35 miles to think about what his plan of action would be.
I just think he is toast in New England ;-0
Imagine what would have happend if the guys had surrounded him and beat him to a pile of mush. Seems to me he knew what he was up against and prepared accordingly. He even consulted with the cops.
That's the problem- he didn't consult with the police. It says the girls' disappearance was reported to police- that's it. Once he found out where his daughters were, he should have phoned the police in Durham and reported they were at an underage drinking party. But he didn't do that. He took the law into his own hands. Luckily no one was injured or killed. By the way, everyone, whether it's a bunch of frat guys or the little old lady who lives in a shoe, has a right to protect their home. Since he entered their home uninvited, they had every right to throw him out or hold him until the police arrived.
LOL @ you raybbr - guess you don't know any Texan women, eh?
That means he was invited! This is why it really is important to clearly indicate that visitors should wait for a personal invitation before entering.
Besides, these young men were running a dive and the public accommodation laws probably applied.
I hope you have a daughter one day - only then will you understand this Dad. If you have one already and you don't get it - sorry for your daughter.
Any difference between a dive and a private party (as in party hearty) then? Doesn't the dive have to serve liquor on a regular basis, rather than at the hospitality of the occupants, and charge a price for it?
