Free Republic Military?
5/16/05 | Guard Dog

I just read a post on conservative blog that stated few freepers were veterans (implication was that we were chicken hawks). Having conversed with many of you and met a few, I do not believe that is the case. But it did get me wondering, who among us is active or prior service veterans? Awright you freeper vets SOUND OFF!

Mississippi Army National Guard 1981-1988

HRWT has been in Baghdad, Iraq for almost a year now.

Guess that kinda messes up their little view of the world now, don't it.

I am retired Navy. 1976-80, 82-96. I seem to remember that someone had a posting on FR where if you were retired or active military you could send in your picture and the Freeper would include it in a series of pictures. Anyone else know something of this?

"Tears & goosebumps here Patriot. God bless you for your service."

Thanks, my friend.

Although we are finally getting the recognition we never received, what is more important, we are also beginning to regain our "good name" and having our "dignity and character" restored as well as having made a "dent" on putting to bed so many misconceptions, exaggerations and outright, falsehoods, about our conduct.

Thanks, John Kerry.

While your gratitude is appreciated, we should reserve our tears for the real "heroes,"--whose names are inscribed on The Wall; and save the goosebumps 4th of July, Parades, Saluting our Flag and affirming our allegiance through The Pledged (under God, of course) as well as when we hear our National Anthem; America The Beautiful and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Moreover, we must NOT forget all of our young men and women serving today.

They say our parents were the Greatest Generation; and that is probably true; Kerry claimed that "we" (those who served in Vietnam) were NOT the "best," and of course, like everything else he has uttered re: Nam, is without merit--as we were (if not "the best") pretty damned good--and the majority of us--myself included--were "VOLUNTEERS."

However, these young men and women today (all volunteers) are truly amazing and I for one (and know of many others) who--in spite of being "brainwashed" and exposed to 30+ years of revisionist history; anti-American diatribe and all other lib/dim drivel and propaganda--have risen to the occasion and have (much to our surprise and joy) turned out to be one of the century's "finest," "bravest" most "dedicated" and "Patriotic" Americans and have made us all proud.

Where and how does this wonderful and beautiful Republic (in spite of its shortcomings and faults) keep producing, generation after generation of selfless, devoted and valiant individuals?

May God look after them, Bless them and keep them safe, and may God Bless, America.
