May 23 issue - Did a report in NEWSWEEK set off a wave of deadly anti-American riots in Afghanistan? That's what numerous news accounts suggested last week as angry Afghans took to the streets to protest reports, linked to us, that U.S. interrogators had desecrated the Qur'an while interrogating Muslim terror suspects. We were as alarmed as anyone to hear of the violence, which left at least 15 Afghans dead and scores injured. But I think it's important for the public to know exactly what we reported, why, and how subsequent events unfolded.

Conversation with Dentist:
Yes, my appointment is Wednesday and that may very well be fine. But I was just wondering, do you still keep copies of that Newsweak magazine in your waiting room or have you finally removed them all in light of sensitivity to the many military and other patriotic patients that come to visit you, instead of the many other Dentists in town?

The problem is with the so called religion of islam. It doesn't get along with anyone else, has no philosophy of gratitude, forgiveness, kindness, understanding, sympathy, and any of the great qualities that bring people together.
I have not heard anywhere anything about love, harmony, caring, etc.
We constantly hear submit or die.
Religion means to bind in that one binds himself to the higher qualities of God.
Islam is not a religion.
It seems more like a doctrine of military domination.

Who's the "knowledgeable government source" who fed them lies? Hiliary? Kerry? Kennedy? the mafia princess pelosi? One of Biden's liars/plagiarists? So many traitors and so little time. I can only hope that this backfires and there is a total meltdown in the left wing media monolith.

If an American or our troops in Afghanistan have been killed because of Newsweek's negligence, I'm sure there's a criminal statute to burn at the stake.

Do you think any heads will roll at Newsweak?I don't know about heads rolling, but murder charges should be brought against the "source" AND the reporter.
To: Pikamax
I love the Dan Rather approach. "The DoD official didn't deny it...." Of course, he didn't confirm it either.

Colonel Hunt was just on Geraldo's show and he agrees. He also says a lot worse things should happen to Newsweek than their "half-assed apology." Colonel Hunt doesn't mince words. Called them murderers.

This is not a "Free Press", this is an out of control press. If I go
out here and yell "Fire" in a theater I can and should be prosecuted
and I think that is a good foundation to bring charges against at
least the reported and Newsweek. They have cost hundreds of lives and
untold damage both real and political.
I Believe in a free press and if that story had been true it should
have been reported. "Free Press" is not a license to lie and fabricate
stories or take gossip as fact. If it is "True" print it, if not don't!
To: Mo1
This is MUCH MUCH bigger than forged documents. THIS could be the death knell for the MSM!!
Like someone said before:
Newsweak lied, People died.

Blood is on their collective hands.Thats funny its just going to keep getting worse because now the only power they have collectivly is to destroy they are so into getting the story out first it dont matter weather its true or not .
To: Pikamax
"the other challenged another aspect of the story but did not dispute the Qur'an charge."
So if someone doesn't want to comment or defend a crazy allegation it must be true?

I believe in First Amendment Rights, because, that's the only reason we're all here. However, enough is enough, the New York Times, Boston Globe, Newsweek should be closed down for two years, or until the war in Iraq is finished. There has to be some pain meted out.
