Most of Mrs. Bush's humor at the correspondents' dinner was just right: Edgy but not over the edge. But I think the stripper and horse jokes were totally beneath her.
Just put it to the other-shoe test: If it were Teresa Heinz Kerry standing up on the dais telling the same jokes, the conservative commentariat would be buzzing for the rest of the year about what a tasteless skank she is.

1. I grew up in Iowa. I was offended, but probably more so because of all of the stupid porn spam talking about videos of this very thing. Also, now that she has opened the door, late night TV can once again expand their indecency quota because she went farther than what most of them dared in the last few years.
2. The strip club material was lame. In order for it to be extremely funny, there has to be an element of truth in it.
I fear that hearing, "Come on, Laura, lighten up," has finally gotten to her. This town has a reputation of corrupting even the most pure. It's hard to stay clean with the amount of slime DC has in it.
I agree with Malkin.
Those jikes were totally out of line for the First Lady. They were not amusing and I could barely believe what I was hearing.
It was the sort of material you would expect out of TEH-RAY-ZAH Kerry, not Bush. I wonder who is running the show down there???
Yeah, wine. Right. Let's not kid ourselves. That filth she was spewing the other night- that's pure absinthe talk. I've seen in before in Guam or some such place. The genie is out of the bottle and it ain't going back in! ;)
Ok, it isn't so.
:o)
First of all, if true, that would not comport with Laura identifying herself as "a desperate housewife" whose husband is as dull as a rock, and we all know that she meant every word of that comedy routine, don't we, because some FReepers have told us so.
But second of all, forget first of all, I somewhat doubt if they think of Air Force One as the appropriate place. They seem like people who do highly respect the Presidency and the symbols of the Presidency. They seem very businesslike about their actual jobs. And they have plenty of other appropriate places, don't they, including their own living quarters at the White House, Camp David, a 1600 acre ranch, etc.
Now Bill Clinton would (not with Hillary, though), just for the same reason he dallied with Monica in the Oval Office...as he himself said in an interview, he did it for an inexcusable reason, and that was "just because I could".
I cannot prove one way or the other about G & L and Air Force One. Just expressing an opinion that I would tend to doubt it. Hopefully, if I am wrong about that, their privacy will be maintained and such details will indeed remain private.
You can't possibly believe that? OMG
Eh... LOL. Please, don't try.
facetious- Playfully jocular; humorous. As in facetious remarks.
: )
We have been infiltrated by aliens.
Aliens or something. LOL
I am not trying to. Just because I said I can't one way or the other, in your mind that equates to trying to? Sheesh... And you said, please tell me it ain't so, so I did, and explained why I did. Next time please warn when you say tell me it ain't so, you mean nobody better seriously tell you it ain't so. Otherwise, there is no way to straitjacket people in their answers.
You honestly cannot recongnize a facetious remark by following the thread in which the remark is posted?
LOL. Just think of it.
Ronald Reagan was a brilliant, humorous man. One of my favorite quotes of his is ""You can tell alot about a fellow's character by his way of eating jellybeans". Brilliant and funny.
I avoid women who talk like sh_t... in public. They're almost always a ton-a-trouble. My opinion of her went down to zero. That was bar room talk... stuff a 50-something barfly would say to get some company.
It smells of spilt beer.
You know, I didn't appreciate him as much when I was living through his two terms in office as I do now. I think age and time to reflect have given me a clearer perspective of just what he meant to us all. I feel the same way about George and Laura.
I can visualize him throwing his head back and laughing at Laura's teasing.
I was a teenager during his first term. I loved him then but, like you, my appreciation for him has grown over the years.
And I offer my heartfelt apologies as well. I spoke without thinking and without consideration. I am sorry.
This is said about Laura Bush? Incredible. That having been said, what you said reminds me of a joke about George Bush, Slick Willie and aftershave. But I'm sure you'd hate to have a woman tell that one.
I'd like to hear it. I'm already going to hell according to some on this forum.
:)
