Noting that in his Good Friday homily soon-to-be pope Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger condemned the "filth there is in the church," Wheeler believes the pontiff "will not tolerate [homosexuality's] presence in his church."

That's the first plausible explanation I've heard for the late pope's behavior.
Cool!
He's one of my favs. My girls are afraid of him though. I guess his voice and demeanor scares them. I kid them about it, telling them in my best Bela Lugosi voice, "Father Corapi is coming to get you!"
Jews worship in ancient Hebrew. Muslims worship in ancient Arabic. Catholics worship in Latin.
It is a sacred language. The translations are NOT accurate. In fact, there were intentionally misinterpreted.
Latin is the language of the Church. It is fixed. It keeps the theological words certain and unchanging through history. Chant does not sound good in English or other languages. The music of Gregorian chant was specifically made to correspond with the syllables and the meter of the Latin words.
There are thousands of other reasons. God understands Latin. At a Catholic Mass, what is being primarily offered is a sacrifice to God through the Priest. It is not a "face-to-face" chatter discussion like at a non-Catholic worship service.
There are some articles that go more in depth, but I'm sure you didn't want a doctoral dissertation.
Some Catholics do; most don't, and won't, at any time in the near future.
Individual Catholics should seek out whichever liturgy in whichever language that allows them to worship in the manner they prefer.
The word "Roman" refers to the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, which is the largest rite in the Church. There are many rites within the Church. The proper name for Christ's Church is simply the Catholic Church.
New translations are in the works. In addition, as a cardinal, Ratzinger said that to reimpose Latin on the Church at this point would be well-nigh impossible.
Great point(s).
Try reading about the Levitical Priesthood of Melchisedech and its relation to Jesus Christ. He's mentioned in Genesis, Psalms and Hebrews.
BW: When Roman Catholics need the opinion of upstarts (based upon their idiosyncratic views of the meaning of the Scriptures we gave them) as to how our Church (the original Christian Church founded by Jesus Christ upon Peter as the Rock) should conduct its own internal governance, we will be sure to give you a call. Meanwhile, MYOB.
Wrong. Once again, learn about Melchisedech. It's fairly evident that you aren't that well versed in Scripture after all.
Quite a few.
As I understand it, a true pedophile goes for children under the age of puberty. Too many homosexuals go for boys over 13 or 14.
The visible beginning of AmChurch grows out of the Spellman-Cushing axis in the 1940s.
The largest number of proven multiple offenders came out of Richard Cardinal Cushing's seminary in 1960.
I agree with you that the problem is very widespread-but it's not recent.
In fact, poor Bernard Law, who came to Boston in 1984, was handed a multigenerational sewer to clean up.
His choice to do it and keep it quiet was a poor choice, and it brought him down.
But he was not the creator of the mess.
Kumbaya is dead!!! John Paul the Great was the transition. B-16 will be the restoration.
Thats right.
However, i think you misread what the Pope actually meant.
the Key word is Impose.
By simply liberating it from the control of the local ordinary, He can let the congregational market decide.
Kinda like what happened when News product was liberated by the internet and talk radio....
AmChurch rhetoric demands words like "impose" be sprinkled in there.
AmChurchers are the experts in imposing. Look at how much they have imposed upong the unsuspecting faithful in the pews under the guise of the "spirit of Vatican II"
Wonder, Sinkspur is our resident modernist deacon (who has enough time to be on the Internet all day) whose interpretations of the current Pope Benedict XVI leave much room for other interpretations.
While he did say a "wholesale return" to an entire Latin Mass would be nearly impossible, he also said many positive things about freeing the Traditional Roman rite of Mass, as well as the Novus Ordo liturgy being a definite break with the continuity of the Church, and said its effects on the Faith have been disastrous.
As for "new translations," the fact of the matter is that it has been 35 years since the imposition of a foreign rite of the liturgy that nobody asked for, was made on the Catholic people. It has taken 35 years, and the "experts" still cannot translate the Latin properly (or better, refused to).
If it took me 35 years to NOT translate my news releases properly into other languages before distributing them outside the U.S., what do you suppose would happen to me?
Pope Benedict XVI will restore the Classical Roman rite to all priests and bishops and make it more widely available. He may also reconcile with the Society of St. Pius X, those priests and bishops who refused to go along with the destruction of the Faith after Vatican II, and got excommunicated for it.
