Father arrested over objections to homosexual curriculum in son’s kindergarten class.

LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS, APRIL 27. Lexington parent, David Parker, was arrested today by the Lexington Police for “trespassing” at his son’s elementary school during a scheduled meeting with the principal and the city’s Director of Education over his objections to homosexual curriculum materials and discussions in his son’s kindergarten class.

At the meeting, Parker demanded that the school inform him when homosexual subjects are to be discussed with his son, and allow his son not to be included in such activities. He said he would not leave until his request was granted. The Principal and the city’s Director of Education both refused his request. They then telephoned the Superintendent of Schools who also refused. Police were called, who told Parker that unless he left the school he would be arrested.

Statement by David Parker(April 27, 2005):

“I, David Parker, am the father of a kindergarten student at Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington, Massachusetts. Since the beginning of this school year, my wife and I have learned that school materials and discussions about gay-headed households/same-sex union issues have been exposed to the children. There are definitive plans to increase the teacher/staff/adult mediated discussions of these subjects.

“We have officially stated on many occasions—to the Lexington school administration—a request that we be notified when these discussions are planned, and want our 6-year-old opted out of such situations when arising “spontaneously”.

“Our parental requests for our own child were flat-out denied with no effort at accommodation. In our meeting on April 27, I, insisted that such accommodation be made and refused to leave the meeting room. I was informed that I would be arrested.”

Parker will be arraigned on Thursday, April 28, in Concord District Court at 9 am. “This is an unbelievable outrage,” said Brian Camenker, a friend and Newton, Mass. parent. “It’s where last year’s same-sex ‘marriage’ ruling has brought us.”

Given all the facts we know about this situation so far, it looks like the Principal and Assistant Principal are homosexuals and/or pedophiles.

Be good idea to follow this one for a few more weeks.

If they have the courage to VOLUNTEER to do that, I think we can muster the courage to combat this scourge of perversion..

This is very insightful! WE THE PEOPLE need to get off our collective asses. As it is now, our Founding Fathers would surely give us each a scornful look. Perhaps they'd shoot us.

Only starting?

I've been heating up for a good many years now. It has become time to take action. Both parties disappoint me greatly.

Fear not...

Nice response! It really is up to us and our children to steer this "Ship of State". We have a lot of work to do, as the "rudder rust" is very thick.

I guess parents rights are getting more and more ignored in todays age!

The education of children is too important to leave to parents. Any supposed right they have is trumped by the state's interests that the child be taught the proper social agenda. Gotta keep those blue states blue.< /sarcasm >

My HS daughter was allowed to opt out of "Bowling for Columbine" in her Humanities class.

I recall when I was a wee boy, my dad told me of the awesome responsibilities of Bishops as shepherds. Now, if a school or portion of a town's business district becomes so dangerous to a Catholic's soul, the Bishop of that area can order Catholics away from such areas.

Since Massachusetts has had a multitude of spiritual assaults, it's a very foreseeable conclusion that Bishops will be be forced bring their flocks away from such extreme anti-Catholic teachings and practices. Even if school vouchers are denied by state law, Catholics will be told emphatically to remove their children from such institutions (per the responsibilities of being Catholic parents from the promise given at Baptism) or be denied access to Catholic Sacraments.

The spiritual assault must end, and Christian parents must bar from opportunity any spiritual poisoning of the kids.

Catholic Communities in the New England area should prepare a community help program to move families away from such public school districts (especially if these families need financial help).

It's a lot closer to a New Mexico town than to a Texas town.

I couldn't agree more.

But about your comment that it "wasn't the smartest way to go about it", I would suggest that if his goal was not only to rescue his own son from evil, but to also bring national attention to the wickedness of the public school agenda and to alert other parents to the clear and present danger therein, then he did the right thing.

While being arrested and having a criminal record is an unpleasant thing to experience, it is sometimes justified and I would suspect that the Lord's judgment in this matter would bless this man's conduct.

There you go again, supporting an illegal.

Seriously, upholding merely human laws should be generally encouraged, but upholding God's moral Law is an obligation which everyone must adhere to. Whether putting on a scene at the school was justified or not is open to question, though, and we'll have to leave it to his conscience, which is a higher arbiter of right and wrong than any merely human law.

Aother sad issue about this is that the teachers have to teach the assigned curriculum or face the consequences. The teachers have no choice or say in the matter. It is up to the parents to come forward and DEMAND that the curriculum be removed from the classroom where it surely does NOT belong. I wonder how many parents in this school district have come forward in support of Mr. Parker?

I'll keep saying this, until you all understand what I mean.

They might not know how to read or do math, but they will understand homosexuality.

A "Why my kids will never set foot in a public school unless it is to watch me vote" ping.

Unreal. And arrested for trespassing besides. That's just great.

John Taylor Gatto has also written an excellent book entitled "The Underground History of American Education." I am calling this required reading for my civics curriculum. We are also home educators who want nothing that smacks of bells, whistles, and Pavlovian responses to be a part of the education of our children.

Not to mention teaching homosexuality to my 5 and 6 year olds!

And the Federal Government, which never issues funds without accompanying regulation, nods in agreement. Thus, before too many years have gone by, we no longer have true homeschooling; we have public schooling practiced at home.

Subjecting our kids to standardized testing, making sure that we are all college graduates majoring in education...yep...I hear you!

If we have to eat hot dogs and mac 'n' cheese in between reading C.S. Lewis, so be it.

Or homegrown veggies and homemade bread in between reading our Bibles, so be it!

Hate to say this, but a lot of gays are into this kind of thing. (Is that why there are so many of them around?)
