LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. - A man with car trouble is in trouble after shooting five rounds into the hood of his Chrysler "to put my car out of its misery."

John McGivney, 64, shot his 1994 LeBaron with a .380-caliber semiautomatic, Broward County sheriff's deputies said.

When the property manager at his apartment complex asked what he was doing, McGivney said, "I'm putting my car out of its misery." He tucked his gun in a pocket and went back inside.

Just do it.
Show some compassion, its time has come.

We're gonna find this on a TV sitcom or comedy movie soon....

Elvis did it first.

> ... a .380 would barely hurt the block.

The damage would be entirely cosmetic, as long as the
round misses fragile accessories (and the fuel line).

This guy is lucky the rounds even penetrated the hood,
and didn't ricochet off in random directions.

He wouldn't have had to do this if he hadn't bought a Chrysler product.

If so, that would make the 'gunman' an anti-dentite!

Wasn't that in that TV show that lasted longer than the Korean war but was really about the Vietnam war? /sarcasm

And the one that was funny before it started to take itself too seriously.

I agree, but a .50 cal Barett would be more effective.

I watch 2 hours of M*A*S*H re-runs every night. If you filter out, and look beyond the anti-war piece, there is a lot of humor and pathos, depending on the episode. The writers were very clever. Alan Alda was a wonderful actor. Ever see his monologue in a Korean household? Too bad he's a lib (I think).

that TV show (MASH) that lasted longer than the Korean war but was really about the Vietnam war?

Best description yet, TV Guide should use it!

The guys from "Office Space" get a little payback from their tormenting fax machine to the tune of 'Damn it's Good to Be a Gangster.'

Yes Alan Alda a big time "lib" as is his 2nd sidekick who didn't seem to have a life after Mash other than being an "activist". Interesting enough the original Trapper John is now an investment guy and appears regularly on one of the investment programs on Fox I think. However, you are correct, the program is quite funny and I do enjoy the re-runs too.

Reminds me of this classic scene from "Fawlty Towers." Good thing Basil wasn't armed when he had car troubles.

Basil: Come on, start, will you!? Start, you vicious bastard!! Come on! Oh my God! I'm warning you — if you don't start… (screams with rage) I'll count to three. (he presses the starter, without success) One…two…three…!!Right! That's it! (he jumps out of the car and addresses it) You've tried it on just once too often! Right! Well, don't say I haven't warned you! I've laid it on the line to you time and time again! Right! Well…this is it! I'm going to give you a damn good thrashing! (he rushes off and comes back with a large branch; he beats the car without mercy)

El Wrongo. A six year old can drive a scewdriver through the hood of a car. Ever fire a FMJ CorBon +P.380? I own .380 pistols. The hot ammo approaches a standard 9mm round.
