VANITY NOTICE: I've just learned that I am an "EXTREMIST!" WOO HOO!!

Nicest compliment I've received in a long time.

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice; moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."

Y'all might want to be careful who you hang out with. If you are pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-constitution, pro-Liberty, pro-America and post to FreeRepublic.com, you risk being labeled as an "extremist."

That puts you in the company of extremist folks like George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Ben Franklin, & Co.

As extremists, "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

Speaking of quotes from our extremist forefathers, someone sent me these this morning:

George Washington - "..And let us indulge with caution the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion... Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail to the exclusion of religious principle."

John Adams - "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

James Madison - "We've staked the whole future of American civilization not on the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future ...upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God. The future and success of America is not in this Constitution, but in the laws of God upon which this Constitution is founded."

Noah Webster - "No truth is more evident to any mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

I've seen, Elian, Buchanan, Liberterian, Lucianne, cause people to walk away. None of these crybabies has been missed not one, ni uno. The site has alway gone on. The site has always remained very good. It will always go on so long a JR continues.

I never said she was. I said she was just a little bit in better shape than someone on a respirator.

Tell me when she was conclusively proven to be 'braindead'.

She was not braindead. However, all of the credible experts who examined her concluded that her higher brain had, literally, melted. We've all seen the images of her brain.

Like I said, the TS case was a little difficult because she wasn't braindamaged "enough." However, she was so close to braindead as to make no practical difference.

I can't see our Nation's founding fathers allowing a person like Terri Shiavo to linger until old age takes her.

Our founding fathers would be stunned beyond belief if they were here today and saw that "their Constitution" had been so perverted as to give women the right to kill their unborn children. STUNNED!

Not when it comes though a feeding tube, they ask not to have it, and they live in Florida.

The ONLY issue in the Schiavo case, legally, is did she ask not to have it. People have testified in different ways on that question - none of us, AFAIK, heard any of those stories on cross-examination.

But, if she asked not to have it, it ain't murder - not even by the Vatican's definition.

You *can't* be that intellectually dishonest, can you??

As mentioned above, the court only ended up making the final determination because MS decided to invoke the court's jurisdiction. The court was simply playing a surrogate role here.

Certainly not. The Florida Constitution guarantees a trial by jury to those who request it and that amendment makes no distinction between a civil or criminal trial.

Then why didn't the Schindlers' attorneys request a trial by jury?

Well, let just skip all the legalese and get down to it.

If you want Americans to have respect for and obey the law then the legal system has to have two things happen.
1) the process must be seen as fair.
2) The outcome must resemble justice

the process was completely unfair to Terri and those advocating for her

The outcome, death by starvation, bore no resemblance to American Justice but looked to a lot of us like justice in Nazi Germany.

So you can make all the clever argument you like but the bottom line is that if the courts keep this crap up, the entire nation will just say screw the law and screw the courts too.

It didn't. The court played a surrogate role at MS's request.

But because only some of us have experience in the world of diagnostic imaging, only some of us realized that phrases and words like "melted" and "all cerebrospinal fluid" were bogus. She had cortex, very badly damaged cortex but here's the catch. Nobody knows how much cortex one needs to retain higher functions. And since no Pet or fMRI was ordered we'll never know if she had any activity in those remaining neurons and synapses.
