Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.

Interesting post. Evidently you think the killing of a helpless disabled woman by judicial fiat is better than a "political uproar," a "major political crisis," a "real mess," and "great turmoil." Any of which could have shaken out with some welcome remedies to a sick system.
I wonder (no I don't) where your thinking would have been in 1776 (anti-independence) or 1861 (pro-slavery).

This is the high truth. I posted a question on one of my blogs this morning: What if you wrote "I want to die if I am badly incapacitated," but once you got badly incapacitated, you said, I want to live?

Would they respect your rights as a handicapped person? Or will you have become a non-person because you became handicapped?

You bet they can! And if you happen to have surgery that requires rehab services, some shyster can have you declared incompetent, at least in the state of florida, probably many other places as well, have himself declared guardian and fleece you and your children out of everything with the consent and encouragement of the judiciary. Greer does this all the time, it isn't just Terri's case.

Graymatter, I like that title - I'm becoming a Terri Schiavo Republican. The only problem is this. Like right now when the Republican party calls me for donations I tell them I ONLY give money to specific Republicans who are pro-life. That always throws the caller for a loop, but it's the only way I can do it.

And in all honesty, I'm not sure I can vote Republican again after this. How do we trust these politicians saying they are pro-life when they clearly are not. As a matter of fact, I think it would REALLY make a strong statement if people all across America called their Republican Party headquarters telling them they're tearing up their cards and that how they vote in the future will depend totally on who is running and whether they can be trusted or not.

I cannot honestly believe that the governor and the president are truly pro-life now. Think about it. Think about Terri lying in bed now shriveling up like a mummy. Her eyes are sunken in, her throat parched dry, her body in pain. I can think of few more agonizing ways to die.

The governor and the president both are allowing this to happen. There is no way they can be truly considered prolife.

But people will naively continue to call them such. It's devastating for our country right now.

Graymatter, I know you hear exactly what I am saying for I've read many of your very fine posts - you "get it" I think.

I guess if someone asks me what kind of voter I am or which party I support - I'm going to have to say "I'm a Terri Schiavo voter." You've started a good idea with that!

impeaching is not going to happen. HOWEVER I think a recall election forcing a special vote to unseat him, and thus bypss legislators and judges and put this in the hands of the people.

If this is what it is like to be ruled by judges, I can understand why the Israelites demanded a king. Not their fault it turned out to be the same thing.

The crowd is fluid, someone counted two days ago it was at 200 by mid-afternoon. There are all nighters, day shifters, some people come for the evening and sit out there until they can't keep their eyes open any longer (the press lights are so bright at night, I can feel my corneas burning.)

Last evening, Judge Whittemore was BRUTAL to the Schindlers from what I heard. They didn't even stick around to listen to Felos spew the same twisted garbage he always takes out one of his instruments of torture, his briefcase.
