Tonight it is, March 22, 2005, over five days since Theresa Marie Schiavo commenced her ordeal of purposeful and legally sanctioned dehydration and starvation. We await a decision from the three judge panel from Eleventh Judicial Circuit as to her fate, as her family struggles with seeing Terri's physical health deteriorate.
Can someone explain to me, what is or was the rush to remove her feeding tube? The evidence was shown to be that there is at least some primitive form of life there. On the testimony of one Michael Schiavo, her husband who abandoned her for a new family and who certainly could be shown to possess ulterior motives, the court determines that she should starve to death?
We live in the greatest, most charitable country in the world, why are we allowing this to happen to a totally helpless woman? Am I missing some tidbit of info. that would possibly make all of this make more sense? Isn't the testimony of her parents, who offer her unconditional love, worth anything, and how could it be outweighed by that of her former husband, who just wants her out of the way?
One more point: Although Terri may have minimal if any cognitive ability, she is technically alive, and I have heard of and in fact seen miracles by G-d where people whose lives were thought to have been over have been returned to health. Isn't there the possibility that thru stimulation and therapy, Terri's condition might improve, if only to the point where being in the presence of those who care for her brings her some sort of primitive pleasure? Can someone please explain what, if anything, I am missing here?
Thank you.
Oh, my. That SOUNDS almost UNBEARABLE! Prayers going up for you!
We need an "Elian intrusion" if you know what I mean!
Beat the clock of course. To see if she can be dead and destroy evidence before their whole worlds fall apart.
He obviously hasn't been at Terri's side day in and day out or he wouldn't have had another wife and kids in the wings!
I think that the minute MS moved in with another woman and had kids with her, he should not have had legal right to be a guardian. It should have been considered as abandonment
no sorry.....
It's always good to have hope, but please don't get your hopes up. The Eleventh Circuit has had all of the paperwork since it was submitted in the district court. The fact that they haven't ruled yet is not a hopeful sign under the circumstances. I've seen rulings issued much faster in death penalty cases. If they were going to grant relief in the nature of an order to restore the feeding tube, I think they would have done it much earlier in the day. I hate to sound so pessimistic, but it sure looks like they are trying to run out the clock, hoping that the case will become moot. Please understand, I'm just telling you what I think based on my experience in the federal court system -- not what I want.
OH, EC!! Praying for your grandmother, sweetheart, and for you!
Yeah .. we're the Minority Majority .. ;)
Thanks!;-)
I have talked to several people today who just started looking at this case in the last two days and are appalled.
I think the tide will turn, if she survives and gets a hearing. I truly do.
nicmarlo,
Where are you getting your info? There's still nothing on FOX.
Somebody needs to get to Gibbs and tell him to amend his f'ing complaint - NOW. If the idiot had just plead that Terri is not PVS and does not want to die from dehydration in this circumstance whether PVS or not, Whittmore would have been forced to grant the injunction, and would have been quickly reversed if he had not. Instead Gibbs just bitched about Greer and posed flacky constitutional theories, and Whittmore was forced to blow Gibbs out, because none of that was going to fly on its face. Now probably the 11th circuit is struggling to decidee whether to take the extraordinary step, given the extraordinary circumstances, of cleaning up Gibb's mess for him.
Here is everything from the case that I could find.... no representation as to what case it is about.....

Hopeful news, nicmarlo.
We're all praying this nightmare can come to an end and the tube reinserted.
I can't take this any more. I can't stop crying.
Praying for our Terri.
I can't believe that with all the things going on in the world today where we need to have a policeman, that they actually have them stationed in Terri's room to make sure her parents don't try to put a drop of water on her lips. I just don't understand this.
But why on the basis of biased testimony would any court in our nation allow this to happen?
Thank you
my chest hurts.... really hurts....
"There are instances where she appears to respond specifically to her mother. But these are not repetitive or consistent. There were instances during the GAL's visits when responses seemed possible, but they were not consistent in any way."

Apparently they are going to kill her because she can't consistently respond.
