Tonight it is, March 22, 2005, over five days since Theresa Marie Schiavo commenced her ordeal of purposeful and legally sanctioned dehydration and starvation. We await a decision from the three judge panel from Eleventh Judicial Circuit as to her fate, as her family struggles with seeing Terri's physical health deteriorate.

Sarah Scantlin was 18 years old when, as a pedestrian, she was injured in a hit-and-run accident that left her in a vegetative condition, aware of her surroundings but unable to speak or move.
Since that time, she has been in a care centre in the Midwest US state of Kansas.
Scantlin´s parents unexpectedly received a phone call last week from the nursing home where their now 38-year-old daughter resides.
However, instead of the call being about Sarah, it was actually from Sarah.
"Hi mum," she said to her mother.
The words were a shock and a joy for Scantlin´s parents.
"There´s just no words," mother Betsy Scantlin told a CBS television news show. "I´ve just laughed ever since because it´s just so amazing."
Pray, and ask God to repeat this miracle again for Terri. We are all Terri has now, for her government has forsaken her. Please ask God, now that he has the world's attention, to bring everyone to their knees with a miracle that noone can ignore.

That would be true. The metal electrodes that were implanted would prevent an MRI because the magnet in the MRI would essentially pull them out.
Yes, I probably would go to jail. And if I did anything to some little snail darter fish or some little endanged bug somewhere I'd go to jail, too.

Is platinum magnetic? If not, then Terri can have an MRI. Michael Sciavo testified in his 1992 deposition that Terri's implants were "platinum electrodes".
there are states (South Dakota is one of them) where the state will take care of people in need (food, clothing, medical care) but then the state will go after family members if there was means for the family to pay for it and they didn't (like MS).

I have been looking for an article for the past hour that I read yesterday, but can't seem to find now about the electrodes and their causing of fluid buildup around them in the brain. But, I did come accross this web blog and I've not read it before. It gives a timeline against what Michael reported with statements by medical doctors and nurses who treated her at the time.

yes, I saw it, someone with fairly good medical background was hypothesizing about Terri's brain injury, and said she is NOT PVS... definately worth reading
