Clinton assails ``epidemic'' of media sex and violence Wednesday March 09, 2005 By DEVLIN BARRETT Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) Children are suffering from a ``silent epidemic'' of media sex and violence, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton argued Wednesday in calling for closer scrutiny by parents and government of what kids watch and play.

Speaking a day before her husband former president Bill Clinton was due to undergo a follow-up surgery for a heart bypass operation six months ago, the senator argued the public health was threatened by increasingly raw media content. Clinton, D-N.Y., focused her critique on the new media that some parents worry are a bad influence on children: violent video games, the Internet, and sexually explicit television programs.

``This is a silent epidemic. We don't necessarily see the results immediately,'' Clinton said at a forum hosted by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

Over time, she argued, the effects of such media-driven desensitization teaches children ``that it's OK to dis people because they're women or they're a different color or they're from a different place.''

The senator took direct aim at one particular video game, Grand Theft Auto, a series popular among players and criticized by parents for its crime spree role-playing.

Are you kidding??? This from the woman who hired private detectives to get a list of her husband's paramours (to eventually intimidate and silence them before elections)? She doesn't give a darn about sex and morality. This is nauseating stuff.

Lol....this epidemic on TV looks a lot like the epidemic of sex and violence that swept through Washington between 1992 and 2000.

Don't be critical.

This epidemic only started last Thursday, and she is the first to speak out against it. - Tom

Oh, please, Hitlery!

Make that "Oh, please, Mrs. Clinton!". She dropped the "Clinton" and ran successfully for the Senate as "Hillary". Let's tie Mrs. Clinton to her roots this time around.

"LEADERSHIP" has been defined as finding a parade already marching and leaping in front of it.

Hillary does this almost as well as Bill. Do not sell the woman short. She is not stupid. Despicable, maybe, but not stupid.

She's becoming more "evangelical" by the minute.

I have said many times, shortly after her '06 re-election to the Senate, her msm complicit pals will anoint her Saint Hillary of Ark, after which she will be seen in many photo-ops toting ole Bill's oversizied Bible around. It is coming.

Nobody but the MSM will take this stuff seriously as Hillary (circa 2007) piously points to these newsclippings as 'proof' of her political conversion. Of course she'll be doing all this with a nod & a wink to her campaign contributors. The 'Evil' Party marches on...

Al Gore tried to reinvent himself 6 or 7 times during the '00 campaign.

John Kerry tried to remake himself 3 or 4 times during the '04 campaign.

The key word is: during. hClinton isn't waiting for the '08 campaign to start reinventing and remaking herself. She is doing the remake now, so that, by '08, she will have a tract record to point to. She will be positioned as more conservative than most of the name-brand Republicans of that campaign, too.

Without question, Bill Clinton will never be able to rid himself of his loose and immoral behavior as president.

Probably, the only thing he regrets about it all is the fact that he was caught.

Didn't Billy-Jeff adopt several republican initiatives and turn them into democrat legislation? Welfare and such. I think Hill is taking a page from the same book.

Not just a page. She has the whole book....and the author. And don't think she won't use every iota she (and he) has learned over the last 20 years in politics.

Ah, yeh, the Internet. And who has been advocating a gatekeeper for the Internet? And why?????? [She saw what it did to Kerry and she wants to head it off long before '08.]

You are SO right................the internet and the electoral college are both
her enemy, and she will do her best to get rid of them both.

I don't recall her from saying these things when she was First Lady. Or did I happen to miss it?

You know I often dream of the alternate reality where Ross Perot never threw his hat into the ring and the Bill & Hillary show never made it to the big stage. Although, then I have to remember that without Bush 41 losing that election, we would not have had Bush 43 in office for 9-11 and everything that follows.

God works in mysterious ways. I just wish he would throw me a cliff note every now and then.

If these charges (lewinsky) by the VRWC were true, then that would be a serious matter." (not an exact quote, but close enough for discussion.)

Does anyone still remember this statement by Hillary when she was defending Clinton and accusing the right of spreading lies against her hubby.

Why didn't someone call her on the serious matter business.

Can you believe the audacity of this woman? Remember when she was running and claimed to have been a lifelong Yankees fan in order to appeal to NYers? Next, I suppose she'll reveal herself to be a longtime fan of W and Laura and their take on decency.

Does she really think that people will believe she is conservative with press releases and speeches such as these?
