Yes, I think I confused her with Veronica Lake is why I was skeptical.
Mayo was the wife that married the pilot for his uniform and left him when he went back to work at the drugstore.
"You saw one more than I did and I'm quite pleased I resisted temptation. Hollywood makes it so easy with the junk they put out!

"MDB appears to support a libertarian or objectivist view. A priest tries to talk her out of it, so I've heard.

LOL! I was thinking Dustin looked better in drag as Tootsie than Babs did tonight.
I'm Academy bashing, which happens to probably be dominated by voters of Jewish origin who are extremely liberal, warped and most often do side with Palestinians agaist Israel. They are not Jewish IMO. I think they lost site of their faith in every way.
The few thousand elite of the Academy that vote are not America, they are the enemies of America IMO.
I totally agree on Mystic River. I thought Sean Penn and Tim Robbins completely overacted in it, real scenery chewers. The best performances came from Linney (oh, that last scene) and Kevin Bacon.
When you create a "batch of bull" scenario that is hardly true to life in any sense of the word, then proceed to embellish every negative aspect of an injury possible, paint the viewer into a "now, what would YOU do?" corner where a mercy killing is the only logical answer, given the balderdash supply of fake blood and gore and the fake woman boxer, of course, something is being advocated. What a bunch of foolishness. - My deduction is this: Men boxing is silly, women boxing is preposterous. If they get hurt real bad doing it, they evidently had a death wish anyway that is soon rewarded with fulfillment one way or the other.
Clint has fallen a long ways from his down to earth days of something believable, like driving cattle.
The whole celebrity *star* thing is to me silly. That's why I don't know them.
LOL... It just goes on and on. A post-post-Oscar show.
I agree that rock was funny. I also thought the bush jokes were lame, but then I realized I didn't care because, Hey, we won. So then I just laughed because - haha losers Robin Williams and Tim Robbins you are pathetic.
I also liked Million Dollar Baby and thought it should win - it was so good.
Where do I mail in my freeper credentials, or will someone show up at my door for them later?
Babs looked like a giant floating grape.
He's wealthy and will pay millions to keep alive. The euthanasia was for abortion politics and the common folks, not his mommy.
I just know she's going to have a bunch of smarmy liberal actors and actresses on there.
did you feel good about yourself when Titanic won best picture......these things seem to run in cycles....I believe Clint when he says he doesn't glorify euthanasia.. remember how alot of us felt when some Jews said the Passion villified Jews.....we know that wasn't the case.. similar to MDB......just a story
This Boy's Life ---
Thanks for hosting this entertaining thread, and sparing me from tuning in to the Hollyweird lovefest. To my fellow Freepers, a round of cat chow, on me!
Charles and Hughes are post modern idols...flawed men who through luck and talent become media idols. Every generation has had their own and Scorsese's treatment is more objective than the Charles film.
As for your comment about MDB - promoting euthanasia is the last thing a filmmaker should be doing IMO. Eastwood should be ashamed of his pandering to the culture of death, but then again we know he has sold out.
Thanks. Don't know if I can take too much more of these folks tonight. Listening to Drudge dishing dirt.
Actually, the critics hated the Oscars. Don't pretend that "The Passion" was #6 on anybody's list. They hated it and everyone knows it's because of P.C.
You have courage to express support of the movie, and it probably is good.
Chris Rock was obnoxious though, his jokes more suited to a night club. There are very few people in that community with any class. Barbra made a fool out of herself grabbing onto Clint Eastwood like that. It reminded me of Julia R. with Denzel Washington.
Maybe for some folks, it just helps bring them more in touch with their faith?

Yes, I'm sure it can.
I didn't watch much. Mostly the pre-show, 'red carpet' stuff. But it's worse than I thought. Clint's pro-euthanasia film (he'd protest that it's not just that...) swept. Cleaned up. Once again, culture of death 'wins'. And anything protraying Christians in a positive light, like Mel's 'The Passion of the Christ' is out. Shocker.
