Poland turns back attempt to ease abortion restriction By UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL
Published February 15, 2005
WARSAW, Poland -- The Polish parliament voted Tuesday not to consider a controversial bill allowing abortion up to 12 weeks into pregnancy.
The bill had been proposed by the ruling Democratic Left Alliance but was fiercely opposed by the Catholic Church, conservative groups and large sections of the public in this fiercely Catholic country.
The bill would have also made sex education a separate subject in junior high schools and allowed minors to seek abortions without parental consent.
Consideration of the bill was defeated by 199 votes to 183.
Poland has some of the most restrictive anti-abortion laws in Europe. Abortion is banned unless the fetus is seriously damaged, the mother's life is threatened or if the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest.
Pope John Paul II, who is Polish, is widely revered by the Polish public. The pope has always taken a strongly conservative position on abortion as well as contraception.
Good news from Poland, although the vote on consideration of the bill seems rather close.
Good for Poland, never give in.
Looks like the left is creeping up on them, hope they can stay strong.
Let's hope they won't be ruling for much longer.
For your information. (FYI)

What does this fiecely Catholic country mean?
New sentence: large sections of the public in this overwhelmingly Catholic country.
Good for Poland. The world doesn't need any more Cultures of Death. How hard we have to work now to roll back what's been done to the U.S.
And if more American Catholics weren't misguided, misinformed or just plain corrupt, they wouldn't be Democrats and the chances of a pro-life agenda would be greatly improved.
"Good for Poland. The world doesn't need any more Cultures of Death. How hard we have to work now to roll back what's been done to the U.S."Abortion is evil total evil!!!!
Revelatur enim ira Dei de caelo super omnem impietatem et iniustitiam hominum eorum qui veritatem in iniustitiam detinent.English"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness"
How true.
Bump!!
