Democrat putting up cash, saying Bible not clear on union of sexes
(Excerpt) Read more at worldnetdaily.com ...
Because I did study Latin, and someone talked about union between a man and a woman. That has a very different meaning in Latin than in English. Union came to mean marriage no earlier than Middle English.
What's the background on Rep. Alvin Holmes, D-Montgomery?
You must mean one of the "versions" that has been HIGHLIGHTED WITH AN EXACTO KNIFE? How about "re-interpreted" with a new, modern or futuristic "hermeneutic."
If one doesn't like it, one can: cut it, delete it, reconfigure it, repackage it, and/or re-market it as the "truth".
Meanwhile, the Truth suffers.
Romans - Chapter 1 - pretty much says "men with men is an unnatural state" - which doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to figure out - a "natural state is a man and a woman". If that's the "natural" state - then marriage would be only between a man and a woman.
Since I don't live in Alabama - and this is a state representative - I doubt he would receive my information. So .. look up Romans 1 and let him have it.
Here's a translator from Hebrew. Knock yourself out and then bring back my 5K.
I still couldn't find anything that forbids same-sex marriage. I know that it is forbidden in Islam, but not sure whether it is also forbidden in Christianity. Again, I am not an authority, just simply curious of what the Bible has to say. But, I do know that the Bible talks about union between same sexes being a sin. However, union in that context doesn't mean marriage. Union came to mean marriage not until the Middle Ages.
Please do your research before you talk out of your @$$
Thanks...
You gonna try and collect that money?
MARRIAGE DEFINITIONS
1. The legal union of a man and a woman as husband and wife. (American Heritage College Dictionary)
2. To dwell together sexually cohabitation. (Hebrew translation, Old Testament, Strongs Expanded Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible)
3. Give in marriage espouse a thugater (female) to an aner (man). (Greek translation, New Testament, Strongs Expanded Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible) In the Greek, aner is NEVER used of the female sex.
The truth is what it is. You can support homosexual marriage but you can't do it with Biblical support.
His excuse for not accepting these passages was ...
"2 of same sex can be married and then one called the man and the other the wife. Who are we to say."
This guy is a kook!
Is he an idiot?
What you have to realize is that the world(in liberals minds') is suppose to move to the left and NAMBLA, NARAL, and moveon.org are always suppose to get their way.
It just boils down to reading documents (something that the left has difficulty with.) Don't you remember the U.S. Constitution is a "living" document, always coming up with clauses like the "separation of church and state" and the "woman's right to choose" and the "homosexual marriage" clause...it's changing 24/7!!!
I guess what I am trying to say is this:
If Democrats can't properly read the U.S. Constitution, what makes you think that they can read the word of God properly?

There are as many as you'd like in Hebrew or otherwise.
Somebody brought that up and he still said it's just a term. How they feel was more important...if one thinks they are wife/woman and the other husband/man that's okay.
No answer will suffice him. He's just stiring the pro-same sex marriage pot!
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
(Leviticus 20:13.)
13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
In both of these scriptures, same sex relations are described as an "abomination." That's fairly clear language, don't you think? In the other scriptures I listed, it is clear that relations between a man and a woman are encouraged quite explicitly. This relationship is marriage. No, there is no scripture that directly says "marriage is for heterosexuals only." But to say that the Bible does not condone marriage between a man and a woman nor condemns same sex relations is simply incorrect. Those who find controversy here do so because they want and/or need to.
Sorry! That was Hebrews 13, v. 4 vice v. 14.
