STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05
Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout
The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

I also saw Charles Krauthammer say that the speech was "pedestrian."
Good gosh, man, what a clean miss.
Groundbreaking, far-reaching, stirring, honest, forthright, brave, touching, I could go on, but I eschew adjectives (they can be so...so pedestrian.)
I'll give you another chance, Krauthammer. Now go watch a tape of the speech and report back later.

The dems are going to battle this bigtime, but I think Bush and the republicans are positioning this just right--it's about letting people control their lives. I thought the democrats were all for that. It's becoming increasingly clear that the demonRATS are more interested in controlling as much of our lives and money as possible, no news flash there, although now it's becoming more and more clear to even the dimmest of bulbs.
Any time they see that control slipping away they tighten up ranks and fight. It only serves to make them look power hungry and foolish and the funny thing is that they just don't see it.

I belong to one. Medical coverage may be imperfect in many respects but its a good deal better than what the country would have gotten under HillaryCare.

LOL .. check this out from the Kos
Does Starbucks make a doubleshot with gravitas?
I appreciate what Reid and Pelosi said, and applaud them for saying it. I just wish the Dems we put in front of the cameras could project more of an emotional weight and energy. It was like watching an uptight school principal and Mr. Rogers on screen.
Can't the DNC afford to hire a few competent media consultants?

Exactly! The only thing that is important to Ronnie, is the only thing that is important to Ronnie. No one else in the country or world matters, just what he wants.

If you ask a democrat, YOUR money belongs to the GOVERNMENT.
Your income is just taxes the state chose not to take from you.

I wish for the sake of the rest of the country that Mark Levin could go national. He takes NO prisoners! The Great One? Levin is King Kong to Hannity's Bongo.

...for 3 years the Bush Administration has failed to put together a comprehensive plan to prevent terrorism...
Except for TAKING THE WAR TO THE ENEMY AND STOMPING HIM. They have been reduced to making Infomercials and playing with dolls.
