STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05
Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout
The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

Exactly. Keep hammering that point home and the Dems die even quicker.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the President say that he'd like to see workers have the same type of savings/investment plan that federal employees have?Yes, he did.
If that's the case, aren't the Dems committing terminal suicide by opposing it?
We can only hope.

The Dems keep asking "when are we going to get the troops out?"
Can you imagine if people asked that during WW II?
"Mr. President, when are you going to get the troops out of France?"
Anyone asking that would have found out how hard vegetables are when they're hit by them. The question itself is absurd. The only correct answer, then as now, is, "WHEN WE WIN!"

" Sissy Matt sounds stuned."
His guest, retired General Barry McCaffrey actually lauded the speech.
I can't ever remember hearing Barry McCaffrey sound upbeat and positive.
He's a perennial doom and gloomer, so if McCaffrey thinks it was good.. someone better check the temperature in hell.

The Iraqis fought a battle that may have won the war by showing up to vote, staining their fingers to mark themselves as voters.
Few of us have been willing to paint a target on ourselves in order to vote.

I give the SOTU a perfect ten, he sold private Retirement accounts, praised Iraq, threatened despots, and gave us his vision of a peaceful world populated by free people.
The response was a joke, and portrayed the contrast in sharp relief between Bush and the Party of Hate.

My perception is that Chrissy is kinda swinging to the right lately. He's been attacking leftists and leaving the right pretty much alone. He must've seen his ratings. They were sinking down to Phil Donahue territory.
