STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05
Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout
The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

You don't think that's worthy of some measure of respect, considering that they have been oppressed for 35 years. The truth? I have no respect for any people that stand by for *decades* under brutal oppression and tyranny, waiting for someone else to come in and fight their fight. And then stand by and basically watch.

Wow! What a speech. What a President. We have a lot to be thankful for. Thank you Lord for our leaders and our troops and their families. Please Lord, bless them and protect them and put a stumbling block in the path of our enemies, foreign and domestic.

Best speech I have ever heard, EVER in my life.
To: CWW
"It's easy to make a great speach when you believe in what you are saying and what you have done!" You are right. President Bush doesn't worry about showy hand gestures fitting with his words. He doesn't want showy words for his legacy....he wants to honestly talk to us....and we know he means every word of it. HE hugged Joe Lieberman.,,he instigated it out of gratitude because Lieberman has honestly defended this president out of conviction, and despite party differences.
