I'm also Catholic but I do not agree with your statement. A small statue of the Virgin Mary will be present this evening at the prayer vigil at Hospice. A statue of the Blessed Mother has always been present at the prayer vigils and it has never offended anyone, including people of other Christian denominations. Terri's family and many supporters are Catholic. I'll be present at the prayer vigil this evening along with Terri's friend, Monsignor Thaddeus Malanowski, and other supporters.
Please continue your prayers for Terri. Please don't make this a big issue. Prayer are what's needed right now.
How do you know it didn't offend anyone? If it did, they were probably quiet. It's the kind of thing that turns people of GOODWILL who are not religious, off and away in droves. I am tired of people thinking everyone feels the way they do about religion or that kind of protesting, THEY DON'T. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you will appeal to greater numbers of people.
But I tell you one thing, we ARE NOT going to make the same mistakes in the movment against Euthanasia, that we made in the movment against abortion if I can help it!
If a statue of Mary has been present every night at the vigil, then it sounds like it is not an issue.
Thanks for letting us know.
It IS a BIG issue. WEEPING STATUES??????? You are going to DESTROY all the good that has been done for Terri. I am NOT going to stand by and be SILENT while you do it.
Whether we are Catholic or not, Terri's parents are.
I had visions of the statute as part of the demonstration, but now that you have clarified that there has always been a statute present at the vigils, I feel a lot better.
I have a feeling that there is going to be a big increase in Terri's supporters at ground zero in the next few weeks.
I am trying to see if I can get down there, myself.
I suggest you ping them as well.
Prayer for Terri continues at 11 a.m. daily for five minutes ...
This daily call to prayer has been ongoing for months and will continue until this mother's child is safely with her family ...
If people truly want to help Terri and her family, they WILL NOT BE AFRAID of statues or false stories in the two local newspapers.
The Sunday papers locally WERE FULL OF PROPAGANDA.
Does that fill me full of doubt? NO for the St. Pete Times and NO for the Tampa Tribune.
