A weeping statue?????? Did you see the post about a weeping statue?????

How do you know it didn't offend anyone? If it did, they were probably quiet. It's the kind of thing that turns people of GOODWILL who are not religious, off and away in droves. I am tired of people thinking everyone feels the way they do about religion or that kind of protesting, THEY DON'T. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you will appeal to greater numbers of people.

But I tell you one thing, we ARE NOT going to make the same mistakes in the movment against Euthanasia, that we made in the movment against abortion if I can help it!

TA In a way I agree with you and in a way I don't. It has been said by people with observations probably better than me, that Teri's Right to Life is a Human Rights Issue and superceeds all religious issues that would divide us.
The Human Rights aspect I do strongly agree with.

However I also recognize that Terri was a practicing Roman Catholic, and although I am NOT Roman Catholic, I am NOT offended by the displays of her religion in the protests. I would hate to see Terri's support become a solely Roman Catholic base, and so I tend to agree with you about too much Catholic symbolism. I'm not offended by Catholics praying the Rosary at the Hospice, that is what Catholics do, and Terri is a Catholic.

But lots of HUGE statutes and an a predominate Roman Catholic message on hand held signs would tend to turn me off. I accept small statues and some signs referencing the Catholic faith, however I would also be offended if Terri's situation was presented as a Catholic struggle.

Terri isn't actually about religion, I even agree that is is a Secular Humanism issue as well as a Religious Issue. Where in our basis of humanity, or our religious faith, do we draw the line at murder? At war point is is ob?

In closing I would say that I am not personally offended by any clergy or members of the Roman Catholic faith becoming involved in the Fight For Terri, however I do think we need persons of other faiths and even un-believers to get equal press.

If there are Catholic status let them be small, let not the Catholic faith become THE message and the life of Terri Schiavo, but is has a place, and to suppress that would be wrong.

IMHO...
