All systems are go for the D.C. Chapter's American Sector on the Inaugural Parade route.
The weather is cold, but warmer than the past few days. The sun is peaking through the clouds. Snow covers the sidewalks, but Pennsylvania Avenue has been cleared.
The barricades are up everywhere. Small groups of people are walking around checking things out.
I did a recon last night with BufordP after the Freeper dinner. ANSWER has their bleachers set up on John Marshall Plaza at the starting point for the parade at 4th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. They also have a stage and speaker risers right on the sidewalk at Pennsylvania Ave.
For all their wailing about the Presidential Inaugural Committee denying the public access to the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Ave., ANSWER has taken up most of the sidewalk space themselves with their stage and sound equipment, thereby denying their own people access to the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Ave. I hope the courts take that hypocriscy into account if their case is appealed.
Snow covered most of the American Sector last night. For those not sure where we'll be today, here's the info:
The northeast corner of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Look for Freepers wearing white Pajama Patrol badge t-shirts with the word 'Marshal' in red letters on the back.
We'll be there from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. We'll have a rally from 10:30 to 11:30. After that, we'll line the parade route in our permitted area on the same block, just a few feet down on the north side of the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
We'll be calling in updates throughout the day.
That is wonderful!
I hope I get to see a picture later.
Oh my, laughing so hard here. Thanks for the info.
Too bad we couldn't make it this year. It was a Ball 4 years ago.
I was in Germany all week, the only English language channels I could get were the BBC and CNN World Service.
Last night, CNN did a piece on the protests planned, but to their credit, they also mentioned the President's supporters and the DC Chapter of FreeRepublic's "American Sectors". They ran a small clip of you describing them.
It was a thrill to stand in the rain 4 years ago to watch in person, and celebrate the end of the clintbilly era.
It was a thrill today to watch our wonderful First Couple up close.
Cheers to you and your family!

Good job, Race, letting Chris get an earful, as well as all the bystanders. Great job DC FReepers!!
Home safe.
Bump for later.
It is gorgeous in the snow. My first view of D.C. was in the big snow of '64 and I've been in love with the city ever since. Not its politics, mind you, but the city. A wonderful town for history, art, musuems. I love my D.C. Unforunately, I have to keep dodging Democrats, but it's ALMOST worth it. Almost.
Watch the language.
I'm unsure if this was the same incident I saw, or a different one. I was standing outside of the checkpoint near the American Sector (waited 2 full hours to get in) and everyone was fine and dandy, some inanne banter going on between the 2 sides, when all of a sudden the crowd on the right side of me started pushing in, The Anrachists came out of nowhere and started throwing iceballs into the crowd and had clubs. I couldn't see too well because I was in the crowd so deep, but it was a very frightening experience, because we were either a) going to get trampled or b) get hit with God knows what this idiots were throwing. There was a poor mother next to me who had two small children and she was just holding them saying, "God, please let this be over soon." What a disgusting display. Anyway, the cops came and broke it up, and arrested a few on them and then seperated the crowd on opposite sides of the street some on motorcycles, some had on full riot gear. I don't know if the people on the further side of the side from the checkpoint ever actually got in. I actually was standing with Protest Warrior for a while because he planned on going to the American Sector and we figured we would just all go in together, but I don't know what happened to him after the chaos.
Oh yes, they had Tear gas too, how on Earth could I forget that?
It was a pleasure meeting you Kristinn and all the FReepers on Wed. night. I am finally back home and on my PC. We had no luck getting around the rowdy protestors on 7th and 3rd streets, they seemed to number in the hundreds, we wanted no parts of them, and their idiotic rhetoric about Bush. Who btw looked fabulous as did his lovely wife Laura, and the 2nd couple, Dick & Lynn at the Stars & Stripes Ball.

Great job in your encounter with Chris Matthews, Kristinn. Chrissie can dish it out, but he can't take it. Didn't he know that he was dealing with a TV star? Hehe!
Did you get to see us that day? That is the exact location we were at?
