"Martz"
I stand corrected.
Good point - I agree.
It's been true for most of Martz's reign of mediocrity. The year he took over the defense was still good, the spirit of Vermiel carried them a year, but since then their defense has been a joke and their special teams have made their defense look good.
And he really doesn't coach the offense well either, there's just enough talent on that side of the ball to mask his incompitence.
EVEN FRANCE HAS A BETTER DEFENSE THAN THE RAMS.
I wonder if the third stringer is gonna in after the half?
The Falcons have been a good team this year. Of their 5 losses, only 1 was a true beating before they had a playoff spot sewed up. KC tore them up.
I thought they (KC) had found a real weakness in the team that would be exploited for the rest of the season.
The Falcons, luckily, had a bye the following week but open very poorly against the Broncos... only to storm back and clobber them in the 2nd half.
That crucial win gave them confidence and all the good that has followed.
With Isaac Bruce out, that could be the end for the Rams. Makes me wonder about how the Eagles will fare with their star receiver sidelined. We'll find out tomorrow.
LOL!!!!!
17 St. Louis Rams
28 Atlanta Falcons
Halftime
The reason the Pats beat the Rams in the 2002 Super Bowl as 14-point underdogs? Take a look at the coaches, Bill Belichick vs. Mike Martz. I rest my case.
The Falcons have been a good team this year WHEN they feel like it. Their 6-3 limp past the Cardinals removed their ability to claim to be a good team without qualifiers. They're good when they bring their A game, but you can't count on them to bring their A game.
Atlanta with 239 yds rushing in the first half!
What would the Jets give to have Wilkins as their kicker? Or Adam Vinatieri? Or Mike Vanderjagt? Or any other kicker amongst the remaining teams?
Martz abandoned the run early in the first quarter, thus playing right into Belichick's (who's always been fond of stunt blitzes) hands.
Bruce would have just prolonged the agony. After the last SB win, the Rams decided all you need is offense.
It is not that their defense is bad -- it that it is TERRBILE. It is all about fundamentals -- know how to operate in space, learn how to open field tackle.
Bad coaching, bad game plan, good offense.
No. The Falcon's defense isn't that good and the Rams offense is too explosive, the Rams are a team that can easily score 21 or even 28 points in a quarter, especially indoors on turf, you never have a game against them sewed up.
Well obviously anything can happen but I think the Pats are going to win. Simply put I just think the Patriots offense will score more against the Indy defense than vice versa.
Um.. the Rams are gonna lose this game tonite.
It always amazes me to see pro athletes try to tackle by just hitting the ballcarrier with their shoulders. Didn't some coach along the way teach them to wrap up the runner? That was a fundamental thing I learned in junior high.
Didn't Manning throw four or five pass TDs in one game during this season? What's makes you think he can't do it tomorrow?
