No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

Now you have me humming that song...

Sweet Baby James.....

Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rockabye sweet baby james
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Won’t you let me go down in my dreams
And rockabye sweet baby james

"Kids can't have fun without a singer who spews pornographic lyrics?"

We're talking about teens here...late teens and "young adults". A few "naughty words" wouldn't kill them. They're not 8-year olds, they've heard them all before (Believe it!), and a few will most certainly go on to join the military, where they will CERTAINLY hear them all, and worse. Daily.

(Don't get me wrong..I sincerely doubt that, had KR appeared at the event, he'd have used any such language)

Your coment has been tried before, and the kids, who are the ones who determine what's "fun" for them, will usually decide for the more "edgy" performer. Sorry, they don't tend to like the "sanitized", cookie-cutter music that SOMEONE ELSE prefers.

So, the short answer to your question is, "Not as much". Why should THEY bow to YOUR opinions on the matter?

LOL! Sorry. Hope it doesn't get stuck in your head...unless you want it to, that is.

I've never heard the song, so I can't say, but since it's a lullabye, it's probably not too bad. :)

Michael Reagan is a great man, have you listen to him tell his story about how he grew up with Ron Sr. and how he suffered from child abuse? sad and inspiring as well.

Wild-man is yet another of those so-called "conservatives" that the Left loves more than conservatives do. His shameless, Quixotic crusades do more to hurt our side than the Left ever could.

Wildmon, Buchannan, Peroutka, the list goes on and on. Self-promoting publicity-whores the lot of them.

And ALL of them have the most ANNOYING followers and acolytes, too.

I won't be going to any of them. That is not what I am discussing. I am discussing what you offer as entertainment for a presidential event. You do not chose entertainers that will offend, disrespect. You chose entertainers that will entertain all the people that are invited.

This is not the place for crudity. This is a presidential event and people that chose to use crudity, bad language, and other activities that will reflect on the president do not need to be included. Period.

Now - if any chose to hear KR, they are totally free to attend his events at any time. If the committee decides he is not setting the example they want to present to America's young, they are within their rights and I applaud them. We have plenty of immorality, crudity thrown down the thoats of our young in every aspect of life. The comments on this thread prove that our young have been innundated with this crudity to the point they expect it as entertainment. But, that does not mean that the rest of us have to accept it as the norm.

We will not.

The very reason Kid Rock isn't going to be performing at the Bush concert is because the same moral Christians who voted Bush into the White House took noble action in letting their objections be heard.

If "moral Christians" were the only people that voted for Bush then he would have received about 20% of the vote. Your crowd is coming close to running away the other 30% of the vote unless the party finally gets the balls to stand up to the fringe crowd.

In fact, if it were not for the stand up job that Bush is doing with the war on terrorism I very much doubt he would have even been reelected. We're not going to have that issue every election.

If the GOP starts embracing the bible thumping crowd to an greater extent, we will take a beating in 2006 and especially 2008.

I predict that after 2008, the composition of the GOP will be radically different - one group will leave the party. If the bible thumpers leave, they will be replaced by a huge segment of the population that now votes democratic only because the moral taliban scares them off.

I do not think there can be interpretations of the 10 Commandments or Christs Commandments.

I do not think that the things of God are difficult to understand.

LOL! Just go ahead and tell a teenager that what they like is BAAAD, and that they should listen to music that YOU select for them.

See how far you get. Elvis will be laughing, rather than spinning, in his grave.

All these years, and STILL people think they have some "calling" to control these things. Hmmm..."control"...

I just got home, and don't feel like reading through almost 1,000 posts. Can anyone give me details?

I like KR, and this is disappointing news to me.

I hear you. There exists some small, but vocal, faction of conservatism which simply has no tolerance for ANYTHING that falls outside their "comfort zone" or whatever wall they build. They also love to post Biblical passages, and pretend that they have some special ability to interpret them. Of course, they dearly love the sense of superiority they get from calling others such lovely names as "whores" and "pimps".

Fortunately, their ability to be "gatekeepers" of conservatism is little more than fevered fantasy.

UN-fortunately, they cause idiocy like this situation, and others in the past. The Left works very hard to paint all of the Right as needlebutt fuddy-duddies, and they go out of their way to help.

Fair enough. Long ago and far away on a different thread, lol, I basically said the same thing. That I personally thought the committee could come up with someone who was popular, but less controversial.

That being said, it's not my party. If they had decided to invite him, then I would have chosen not to attend if my children were with me. I would not have tried to stop his performance. Would someone be forcing you to attend something that you think is gross? They are responsible for their own choices, and I think the President would be wise enough to make the appropriate choice, in any event. It's not my place to tell a grown man what that is, however.

I don't believe peformers are doing anything except what they are paid to do. If enough people stop buying stuff they consider to be offensive, then less of that kind of thing will be available. Record companies, for example, are driven by record sales, even if artists are not.

In the meantime, it's easy enough to get away from stuff you don't like.

I have NEVER been one to FOREVER judge someone by past bad actions which they have since ceased (a personal pet peeve) and have on many occasions, been known to speak out when other people have done it. For instance, when democrats attempted to smear President Bush for his past poor behaviors, but gave Clinton a pass on his current poor behaviors, it drove me wild and I spoke up about it. I well understand the difference.

However, some of Kidd Rock's lyrics are a little too current. The lyrics in question are extremely raunchy, even shocking. It's going to take Kidd Rock a few more years of clean music and behavior to live them down. And it should. They're really, really bad.
