No Kid Rock at Bush concert
Committee backs off plan to feature rapper after pro-family Americans express outrage

Kid Rock, the vulgar rock-rapper who initially had been lined up to headline the youth concert next week as part of the inauguration festivities for President Bush, will not be apppearing after all.

"He's not performing," a spokesman for the Presidential Inauguration Committee confirmed for WND.

No further information about the cancellation of Kid Rock was available at press time.

Word that the rapper will not join JoJo and Hilary Duff as performers at the Jan. 18 concert, which will be hosted by Bush twins Barbara and Jenna, comes after WorldNetDaily and other outlets publicized the fact that the committee was planning to feature Kid Rock, which caused several pro-family organizations to ask their supporters to protest his appearance.

I didn't realize he was a Bush and troops supporter - good for him! I think he's smart enough to know when and when not to turn on all his charms.

Exactly, and as I understand it, this particular ball was for the younger set. Sad indeed.

"Last week they were all saying how we should shut up, it's Bush's party and he can invite who he wants. This week Bush is a traitor to the cause and a Taliban fuddy-duddy for dis-inviting their favorite pervert. As if we didn't all see this coming."

It's amazing...

Bush making the right decision I saw coming; The continued bile-belching and paranoia of the loons I didn't.

Actually, it's the twins' party, the way I'm reading it. And they should be able to invite who he wants. If they want to invite Kid Rock, they should be able to do so without political pressure forcing them to dis-invite him, if that is the case.

Good! I don't want to fight with you either. :-)

Just tired of some of the adjectives and comparisons being thrown around here, which if applied logically, would apply to President Bush as well.

I think I can pull a conclusion out of this mess of a thread, but it's not a pleasant one...

"The old fuddy duddies have won."

The concert looks like a major snoozefest!

F16, perhaps I'm in err here. My understanding is that this is NOT the Whitehouse innaugeral ball, but a ball for the younger crowd hosted by the twins. This is simply another ball, not THE ball.

Thank you. Looks like an interesting read. I am going on vacation next week, I will have to pick up his book before I go for a little beach reading.

No, my view point on this issue comes from reading a lot of history. Guess if someone else came to a similar conclusion then maybe I am not to far off base. Always a nice thing.

I think you're right.

I'm actually sitting here happy that President Bush made a good decision. It's downright weird that folks would be angry with me (or people who think like me) for that.

Wow, I am a conservative who like Kid Rock but he's not appropriate for the Ball

I hate it when people compare Christians to the Taliban.

As I have stated on this thread, Christians are not the enemy.

But you got to think this stuff through or people won't be able to compare you to anything but a bunch of religious people who force everyone under their control to be moral (as they define it).

You and I can agree that God is the law giver and that everyone should obey. But God NEVER told us to FORCE them to obey.

Still, in order to maintain a society we must have rules, and those must come from the compromise of the people. You and I as Christians have just as much of a right to influence that process as anyone else. To mold this society into a "better" place. But we fall short of the Founding Fathers and the Lord when we aspire for total moral control. (I am not sure that is what you are advocating mind you.)

I recognize absolutes. I will never compromise on issues of abortion and the right to pray in school. I will not deny the Judeo Christian foundation of this nation. I will fight to uphold limits that protect the very fiber of our Liberty.

I will not however claim a right to subjugate my fellow citizens for that cause.

No, the only real problem here is that people do not care that the troops love Kid Rock and that he supports the troops and the President.

You all are more concerned about some "naughty words" then the moral of our troops and their families.

It is Self-centered, self indulgent madness that we are talking about- not Christianity.

I say this as a Christan -you do not speak for me.

Well, that's why President Bush decided to eliminate some of the self-centered, self indulgent madness from the inauguration celebration.

THAT sounds good (the beach)

The book is old fashioned and clunky in a lot of ways, but his basic observations about the rise and fall of social movements still hold.

LOL...so the speculation has been proved true, apparently. It'll be a slam dunk if KR says the same.

Either way, I still stand by what I've said. :)
