This thread is for those who got diddly, nada, zilch, zip, zero Christmas Presents this year (or any other year). Come and commiserate. You're among friends here.
And to those of you who offer the beautiful homily, "It's better to give than receive", please take the time to have a nice tall glass of shaddup.
Hmmmm? The easist way to cure that is to give yourself a gift. I've been doing it for years. If you don't appreciate yourself - no one else will appreciate you either.
And .. giving yourself a gift - could mean volunteering at an old age home - serving a meal - there are all sorts of opportunities.
I most certanly did. AND I was sick.
I am only allowed to watch five minutes of A Christmas Story on Christmas Day. This year I got to see the tongue sticking to the flag pole scene.
I got part of the Looney Toons Collection on DVD from my husband (Bugs Bunny rules!), a nice raincoat from my dad, a CD of music from the court of Henry VIII from my brother, and an Oreck vacuum cleaner from my mom. She has one and I love to use it. In case anyone was wondering about them, they really are good vacuum cleaners, very light and easy to handle, and they pick up really well.
As I whined about on another thread, I got a crapload of candles. CANDLES. Why do American women think candles are so great. I got one that is so big it has four wicks in it. Geez.
I got other Elvis movies (like "Speedway") somewhere down on my list. :-)
I actually TRIED to get a bunch of home grown Scrabble players toGETHER to watch the VHS tape WORD WARS which I obviously sprung for because I'd thought they'd give a twit. ;)
Now you all can't say you got nuthin', cuz here I am to give each and everyone here a big hug and a slobbery wet kiss!
: P Merry Christmas!
And once a year appreciate and celebrate this gift.
'Nuff said...
I got a bag of almonds from a client. Does that count?
Get well soon!
ROTF....I can't breathe.
Because candles come in very handy in a blackout. They smell nice and give your home a cozy glow. You can use them around the tub for a relaxing bath. It says that the giver is thoughtful enough that you could use a small luxury and they went out of their way to pick out a gift that they thought you would appreciate, but obviously they were wrong.
You light up my life..........;)
What is a black amex card?.....no limit?
You are LOVED. I only impart this cause of the Bugs gift. I'm looking for Hillbilly Hoedown and so are a bunch of folks. I wasn't good enough this year but didn't get coal either. I'll try to be better this year but ... :D
nope....
Give me the opportunity to talk to your women and I will appreciate them, even without receiving candles.
Even to the point of them not thinking about giving "just" candles.
