This thread is for those who got diddly, nada, zilch, zip, zero Christmas Presents this year (or any other year). Come and commiserate. You're among friends here.
And to those of you who offer the beautiful homily, "It's better to give than receive", please take the time to have a nice tall glass of shaddup.
I'd like the title of that CD if it was something he purchased. I'm a fan of Tudor history.
I admit I did get a few gifts, the greatest one was thinking of all the children getting up at the crack of dawn with wide eyes and a thrilling intake of breath. My greatest wish? That all children could get their hearts desire on Christmas morning.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
lol.
After which, the Feats of Strength!
I got a candle from my neighbors (I took champagne to them) ... but I forgot to bring it home. I'll get it after work tomorrow.
The only Christmas "present" (if you wanna call it that) was the terrible news that my mom is in the hospital for pneumonia!!!
On top of that, my father didn't even tell me about it for 5 days...she was taken to the hospital by the ambulance after arriving home from church last Sunday afternoon, & I was told about it Friday morning. I asked my father why he never told me, & he said "I didn't think you would be interested".
Another sad thing is that Tuesday, I just happened to be riding the bus down the street that passes by the hospital, never knowing that my mom was there.
Yes, doing what one can for homeless or disfranchised children is great, but what they really need most is the knowledge that they possess the strength to succeed. The Democrat philosophy of eternal dependence has dominated all human services so it is up to us sponsors and citizens to bring this message back to them. Sinkspur, you oppose me on my positions about illegal immigration but my positions were forged by fighting liberal attempts to convince me to give in to governmental dependence. Not happening while I still have an ounce of self-respect. I have carved what little I have out of hard work while my associates consider me an idiot for not being rich for what they know I can do. Call me a throwback and make the end quick - I'm determined to succeed (if possible) on fairness and high ethical standards for myself and those whom I do business with. I don't need people who can't abide by that. I don't need criminals.
Dang. Your family rocks.
Everybody always gets a maximum of 80 bucks here, so while I got Seinfeld seasons 1-3, that was about it except for a small George Foreman grill for the dorm.
Well, that is what my sister got from me. But, that is what she put on her list...lol.
You can learn from me. The last big family Christmas bash was in 1994:) Over 80 people were there in Thousand Oaks. Some amount of drinking. I got a couple of cousins together that also have a mil history and found a quiet place to play poker. We just sat there like gentlemen and quietly observed. Some distant cousin and his wife started arguing over meaningless items and took it outside and were loud. An uncle got loaded and broke a lamp.
The trash from the presents was all over.
Meanwhile, we all just quietly sat there and played cards. It was like watching a movie. At that point we decided this stuff won't happen next year.
I have a platinium Amex card. Carry it because of all the travel I do. However, the card fee is outrageous.
My folks are all Jehovah's Witnesses. Needless to say, all I got was a sermon and a headache.
George and Laura Bush gave me a Christmas card :)
That was my only "gift" this year, by mutual agreement, but it was the best year ever for me.

They made a record (slow song) which barely received radio's notice in NY in '76. It was the first song we danced to after we met...and the first one we danced to as a married couple.
After years of searching, I found a 45 rpm copy of the demo on a collector's site in Virginia.
I made a shadowbox framed display of this 45 with the original wedding invitation and other memories of that day, after recording the song to her new iPod.
She has never cried over a Christmas present before... until this year.
To those of you who received no presents this year, I hope '05 will bring you someone as joyful and loving as my wife of 25 years.
Ok, this might be a low blow to those who really didn't get anything, but I actually did not get a present that I could unwrap, but I did get the greatest gift every. My husband is home from Iraq for good. Came home Tuesday. Thank you God.
God bless you all.
Never heard of the movie and I love to play Scrabble.
God bless your family.
Good job, guy.
