WASHINGTON - Many people want to see Sen. Hillary Clinton take on Rudy Giuliani in the 2008 presidential race, a new national poll shows. A new Quinnipiac University poll found 57% of voters like Clinton (D-N.Y.) and only 4% express anger toward her, though she is widely considered one of the most polarizing politicians in the country.
In a hypothetical matchup, Giuliani and Clinton are neck and neck: 45% to 43%.
"I don't think it's going to happen, but both Democrats and Republicans think a Rudy-Hillary race would be a lot of fun," said Maurice Carroll, Director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "Two-thirds of Democrats like Hillary Clinton and two-thirds of Republicans like Rudy."
The survey found President Bush's job approval rating at 47%, and 34% of Democrats say they don't just disagree with his policies, they are angry at him personally.
"I've never seen anything like this anger at Bush," Carroll said.
A majority of Americans do not like how Bush has handled the economy and only 42% now say going to war in Iraq was the right thing to do. Bush continues to get high marks for fighting terrorism.
The poll's margin of error was plus or minus 2.5 percentage points

There'll be a Hillary-Rudy matchup, but it will be in 2006! The Kerik Fiasco has almost assured that Rudy will settle for the Senate seat in 2006. There wasn't much of a chance that he would win a primary outside of NEw England with his pro-infanticide, anti-gun stance.

I am waiting for the inevitable post hyping a Rudi/Condi ticket - Then we can have a solid pro abort ticket with at least one gun grabber on it.

This just made me laugh...as if we haven't had enough polls as of late...now we have polls for imaginary elections 3 years early!
You'd think Ms. Helen could enjoy her holiday.

I wonder is Hillary will even run for the Senate in 2006? If she was smart, she would become the biggest budget-cutter and the biggest hawk in the Senate over the next couple of years, not run for Senate in 2006 (the race for 2008 begins in 2006 and she might actually lose the Senate), move to the south and start being a faithful church goer.

This pollster sounds already in the tank for the Dems.
'Caveat Pollster', good rule of thumb for the FReepohadeen

Hmmm. Hillary vs. Rudy. Must be taking about the Dem primary.

Not much difference there.
They both commit adultery with other women.

In a hypothetical matchup, Giuliani and Clinton are neck and neck: 45% to 43%.Sounds like a Rassmussen poll. If that's the case, do not expect the spread between the two to move outside the margin of error for the next four years.

This is ridiculous, Bush hasn't even finished his first term and already election 2008 has started. Four years is a loooong time and many things can happen. The only purpose talking about this serves is to diminish W 's 2nd term.
